Cardinals @ Reds

Overcast skies, a light breeze toward left, and two call-up lefties taking the ball in the first half of a Cincinnati doubleheader. This has the loose, unpredictable feel of an August matinee at Great American Ball Park. I’m backing the lineup I trust more. Kent Emanuel is making his first major-league start at 34 against a Cardinals order loaded with right-handed bats, while Jordan Walker and Alec Burleson are driving the ball exceptionally well. St. Louis has scored 19 runs over its last two games; Cincinnati has managed six over its last three. Quinn Mathews carries real walk risk against a dangerous Reds lineup, which keeps me away from the run line. But he offers more bat-missing upside than Emanuel, and St. Louis owns the stronger, fresher bullpen if this becomes the short-start game I expect. At essentially a pick’em price, the Cardinals moneyline is my $100 play.

Orioles @ Rays

Monday night under the Trop roof: Tampa Bay is trying to stop a sweep, while Baltimore is protecting the American League’s final wild-card spot. This has the feel of a tense getaway game, not a track meet. I’m buying the run, not asking Baltimore to win a fourth straight. Brandon Young has consistently kept the Orioles competitive, especially on the road, and Tropicana Field suppresses the kind of crooked inning that kills a run-line ticket. McClanahan may pitch well, but three rehab innings do not guarantee length in his first start back. Tampa Bay’s rested leverage bullpen could ultimately secure the game, yet that points me toward a narrow Rays win as much as a comfortable one. Baltimore winning outright or losing by one gives me enough ways to cash.

Marlins @ Phillies

The lights come on at Citizens Bank Park with two division rivals carrying winning streaks into a warm August night. Miami is chasing Philadelphia in the Wild Card race, so this opener should have an October edge to it. I’m laying the run and a half because Cristopher Sánchez has owned this ballpark: a 1.41 home ERA, with Philadelphia winning 12 of his 14 starts here. Miami loaded the lineup with right-handed bats for him, but Sánchez’s changeup-slider combination is still the best weapon in this game, and the Marlins are missing Kyle Stowers. The separator is Philadelphia’s lineup against Janson Junk. His recent results are sharp, but the low whiff rates, 5.35 road ERA and major trouble against left-handed hitters make this a dangerous park for him. Schwarber, Harper, Stott and Marsh can turn contact into crooked numbers, while Bohm is scorching behind them. Add Philadelphia’s bullpen advantage, and I see the Phillies creating separation instead of merely surviving a close one.

Cardinals @ Reds

The lights come on at Great American Ball Park after a tight opener, with two division rivals resetting for the second half of a long doubleheader day. Cincinnati’s lineup is searching for a spark; St. Louis is trying to keep its August push moving. Andre Pallante is the separator. He has limited Cincinnati to one earned run across two starts this season, owns a 2.55 road ERA, and is built to suppress this park by keeping the ball on the ground. The Reds have scored only 2.7 runs per game over their last 10, while Dane Myers and Tyler Stephenson—two of their few productive bats lately—aren’t starting tonight. Lowder’s home form makes the Cardinals’ run line too ambitious, especially after St. Louis used its best relievers in the opener. But Burleson is scorching, Walker is driving the baseball, and Pallante gives me the better path through six innings. At only -116, I’ll pay the modest price and back the better starter and hotter club to win outright.

Tigers @ Pirates

Monday night at PNC Park, overcast sky, light breeze toward right, and two clubs trying to keep a fading playoff path alive. This feels like a tight game until one starter loses the strike zone. I’m backing Framber Valdez to win that matchup. Pittsburgh owns only a .695 OPS against lefties, and its right-handed-heavy order lets Valdez lean on his best weapon, the curveball. Carmen Mlodzinski has allowed nine earned runs in 5⅓ innings since returning to the rotation, and Detroit can stack four left-handed bats against a pitcher who has been significantly more vulnerable from that side. The Tigers are depleted and coming off a sweep, but the market has made this nearly a coin flip despite Detroit holding the clearer advantage both at starter and in the bullpen. Pittsburgh’s recent offensive surge makes this uncomfortable, which is why I’m staying off the run line. At -105, I’ll put the $100 on Detroit to win outright.

Padres @ Mets

Clear night at Citi Field, two hot clubs opening a series, and every inning should feel like October for San Diego. This is the kind of tight game where one extra-base hit or one bullpen matchup decides the ticket. McLean is the better starter on paper, especially against right-handed bats, but the Padres can attack him from both sides and have enough hitters driving the ball to punish his vulnerable cutter or sweeper. Buehler’s season has been uneven, yet his last two starts show better strike-throwing and composure. I only need him to keep this game level through five. The price decided it. San Diego owns the stronger defense, the more dangerous running game and the superior late-inning bullpen, with Mason Miller waiting if the Padres grab a lead. I’m taking the playoff-chasing club as an underdog and putting the $100 on Padres moneyline at +112.

Athletics @ Royals

A warm, still night at Kauffman, with two clubs carrying Sunday wins into the opener. Michael Wacha gets the ball at home while Mason Barnett walks into a difficult assignment. I’m laying the run and a half because the price is much better than swallowing -177. Barnett has allowed 13 earned runs and nine homers across his last three starts, hasn’t completed five innings in that stretch, and is coming off a hip scare. Kansas City also gets Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino back, lengthening the lineup around Bobby Witt Jr., Jac Caglianone and the scorching Michael Massey. Wacha’s steady six-inning profile and 2.91 home ERA give Kansas City the cleanest path to separation before its unreliable bullpen enters. Oakland’s power is dangerous, but Tyler Soderstrom’s fresh absence shortens an already depleted order, and the A’s defense and middle relief leave room for a close game to crack open. Royals -1.5 at plus money is the bet.

Braves @ Twins

A warm Monday night at Target Field, breeze carrying toward center, with Atlanta beginning a road trip and Minnesota trying to stop a three-game slide. This feels like a game that stays competitive before the stronger club separates late. Bailey Ober’s 3.20 home ERA deserves respect, but his diminished velocity and elevated barrel rate are dangerous against Matt Olson, Austin Riley and an Atlanta lineup built to punish mistakes. Martín Pérez is due some regression from 18 scoreless innings, yet Minnesota’s .691 OPS against lefties gives him a favorable path through five or six. The deciding edge is Atlanta’s bullpen. Minnesota has used several important relievers on consecutive days, while the Braves can still deploy Dylan Lee and Raisel Iglesias behind Pérez. I’m paying the manageable -127 instead of demanding a two-run margin.

White Sox @ Cubs

The lights come on at Wrigley with both sides of Chicago carrying October expectations. It’s a calm night, a live crowd, and a rivalry opener that should feel tighter than the records suggest. I’m buying Castillo’s changeup adjustment after his 10-strikeout outing, especially against a Cubs lineup missing Dansby Swanson for the first time. On the other side, Imanaga’s home-run vulnerability meets Vargas and Murakami at their most dangerous, with the White Sox lineup producing damage from multiple spots. The Cubs deserve to be favored, but -155 asks me to pay for the better season while discounting tonight’s form and fresh lineup disruption. The White Sox have won seven of their last 10, just swept Detroit, and offer enough outright upside for me to take the live dog at +145.

Dodgers @ Rockies

A hot Monday night at Coors, the breeze drifting toward left, with the Dodgers arriving after a draining series loss and Colorado coming home off a 13-run afternoon. This has the feel of a tighter opener than the price suggests. Snell looked electric in his return, but this is only his second start after three months away and his first test at altitude. Colorado’s lineup can force traffic, while Sugano has pitched better at Coors than on the road and has allowed only six earned runs across his last three starts. His history against Los Angeles is ugly, but the Dodgers currently aren’t punishing mistakes consistently enough for me to lay this number. The deciding factor is the price. Dodgers -1.5 at -169 demands both a victory and separation from an offense averaging just 3.2 runs over its last 10, with a bullpen that remains vulnerable if Snell exits early. I’ll take the run and plus money with the live home dog.

Player props

36
MLB · Cardinals @ Reds

Jordan Walker

Walker is seeing the ball too well for me to pass on this price. He has 13 hits, two homers and nine RBIs over his last 15 days, with a 92.7 mph average exit velocity and three barrels across his recent contact sample.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases-102
MLB · Cardinals @ Reds

Tyler Stephenson

Stephenson is Cincinnati’s hottest source of authoritative contact. He has four home runs in his last 15 days, including two over the past week, while producing a 95.3 mph average exit velocity and three barrels on 15 recent balls in play.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases+141
MLB · Orioles @ Rays

Shane McClanahan

The price does not fully account for McClanahan’s likely workload. He has gone 17 days between major-league starts, made only one three-inning rehab appearance and was removed after 49 pitches the last time Tampa Bay used him.

UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts-109
MLB · Orioles @ Rays

Jeremiah Jackson

Jackson is hitless in 13 at-bats over the past 15 days and has produced a hit in only one of his last 15 appearances. I don’t need that drought to continue forever; I only need one more quiet game, and the plus-money price makes the risk worthwhile.

UNDER 0.5 Hits+110
MLB · Marlins @ Phillies

Bryson Stott

The move to sixth costs Stott a little volume, but it should give him plenty of chances to produce behind Harper, Arraez and Bohm. He has cleared this number in 12 of his last 15 games while batting .362 over that stretch. The matchup strengthens the play: Janson Junk has allowed a .302 average and .813 OPS to left-handed hitters. Stott's low whiff rate gives him multiple routes to two combined hits, runs and RBIs.

OVER 1.5 H+R+RBI-120
MLB · Marlins @ Phillies

Cristopher Sanchez

This line requires Sánchez to record an out in the seventh inning, something he has done only once in his last eight starts. He has finished at six innings or fewer in each of his last five, frequently approaching 90 to 100 pitches along the way. Miami is presenting eight right-handed or switch-hitting bats, the side against which Sánchez has allowed a .289 average and .762 OPS. He can control the game and still leave after six, which is all I need.

UNDER 18.5 Pitcher Outs-130
MLB · Cardinals @ Reds

Alec Burleson

Burleson is seeing the ball as well as anyone: a 1.230 OPS, six homers and 19 RBIs over his last 15 days, backed by a 97.1 mph average exit velocity on his recent contact. He added another two-hit game with a double in today’s opener. The matchup stays favorable against Rhett Lowder, who has allowed an .837 OPS and 11 of his 12 home runs to left-handed hitters. In this park with the wind carrying toward center, Burleson can clear two bases with one good swing.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases-117
MLB · Cardinals @ Reds

Andre Pallante

Pallante has allowed only three earned runs across his last three starts and one across 13 innings against Cincinnati this season. His ground-ball approach and 5.5% barrel rate are especially useful at Great American Ball Park. The Reds are averaging 2.7 runs over their last 10 games, managed one run in the opener, and are sitting Dane Myers and Tyler Stephenson tonight. I’m betting Cincinnati does not get three earned runs against him.

UNDER 2.5 Pitcher Earned Runs-109
MLB · Tigers @ Pirates

Carmen Mlodzinski

I’m fading Mlodzinski’s ability to miss bats. He has one strikeout in each of his two starts since returning to the rotation, lasting only three and 2⅓ innings.

UNDER 2.5 Strikeouts+132
MLB · Tigers @ Pirates

Henry Davis

Davis has three hits in his last 25 at-bats, including one in his last 12, with an 84.0 mph average exit velocity and no recent barrels. Batting ninth also creates a real chance he receives only three plate appearances. Framber Valdez’s command can produce walks, but those do not hurt this bet, and his curveball gives him a strong weapon against an aggressive hitter. I’ll take Davis to finish without a hit.

UNDER 0.5 Total Bases-106
MLB · Padres @ Mets

Nolan McLean

McLean has issued at least two walks in seven of his last eight starts, including each of his last six. San Diego averages 3.41 walks per game, and disciplined hitters such as Fernando Tatis Jr. and Xander Bogaerts can make him work. McLean regularly pitches six innings, giving me enough runway to clear this number even at the heavier price.

OVER 1.5 Pitcher Walks-159
MLB · Padres @ Mets

Carson Benge

Benge has cleared this in 11 of his last 15 games and owns a .991 OPS during that stretch. Batting cleanup behind Francisco Lindor and Bo Bichette gives him strong RBI opportunities, while his recent contact gives him a path to score as well. Walker Buehler has allowed left-handed hitters a .280 average and .766 OPS, making a near-even price attractive.

OVER 1.5 H+R+RBI-102
MLB · Athletics @ Royals

Mason Barnett

I’m betting Barnett is finished before he records a second out in the fifth. His three starts have lasted 5.0, 4.1 and 4.0 innings, with 13 earned runs and nine home runs allowed over that stretch.

UNDER 13.5 Pitcher Outs-102
MLB · Athletics @ Royals

Jac Caglianone

I’m taking plus money on the hottest run producer in Kansas City’s lineup. Caglianone has 16 RBIs over his last 15 games, including at least one in seven of them, while batting .429 with four homers.

OVER 0.5 RBI+135
MLB · Braves @ Twins

Matt Olson

Olson has cleared this number in 10 of his past 15 games, producing six homers while barreling four of his last 17 balls in play. Bailey Ober’s extreme fly-ball profile and 10.6% barrel rate are a dangerous combination against Atlanta’s biggest power threat. The warm conditions and wind toward center add another small boost, and this price gives me both the extra-base-hit and multi-hit paths.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases-106
MLB · Braves @ Twins

Bailey Ober

Ober has allowed at least six hits in five of his past eight starts, and Atlanta can attack his diminished velocity from both sides of the plate. His changeup carries a .437 expected wOBA despite being his most-used pitch, while his low ground-ball rate leaves plenty of contact in the air. Six hits is reachable even if Minnesota removes him before he completes six innings.

OVER 5.5 Pitcher Hits Allowed-125
MLB · White Sox @ Cubs

Randal Grichuk

Grichuk is seeing the ball exceptionally well, batting .370 over the last 15 days and recording a hit in 10 of his last 15 games. His recent contact has been loud, and the cleanup spot gives him four strong chances against a left-hander. Imanaga is tough, but Grichuk only needs one hit to cash.

OVER 0.5 Hits-146
MLB · White Sox @ Cubs

Miguel Vargas

Vargas has five home runs over the last 15 days, including four in his last seven, and his recent contact supports the surge. Imanaga lives in the air and remains vulnerable to home runs, particularly when his command slips. Batting third between Murakami and Grichuk, Vargas has a good setup for an extra-base hit or a multi-hit night.

OVER 1.5 Total Bases+120
MLB · Diamondbacks @ Red Sox

Wilyer Abreu

I'm getting plus money on Boston's hottest and most patient hitter against a starter who has issued 19 walks in 33 2/3 innings. Abreu has drawn a walk in 11 of his last 15, owns a 20% chase rate lately and has six homers during that stretch. Bratt has every reason to work carefully around him.

OVER 0.5 Walks+153
MLB · Diamondbacks @ Red Sox

Adley Rutschman

Rutschman has cleared this number only three times in his last 15 games, and his current contact gives me no reason to pay for an immediate rebound. He's 1-for-17 lately with a 36% whiff rate, an 80.3 mph average exit velocity and no barrels. The late Jones scratch also leaves Boston with a thinner lineup, making it harder for one modest contribution to turn into two.

UNDER 1.5 H+R+RBI-109
MLB · Dodgers @ Rockies

Tomoyuki Sugano

I only need five completed innings from a starter who has cleared this line in eight straight outings. Sugano has worked at least five in 18 of his 21 starts, owns a better ERA at Coors than on the road and has allowed only six earned runs across his last three turns. The Dodgers have averaged 3.2 runs over their last 10, and Colorado's vulnerable bullpen gives Sugano every reason to get a reasonable leash.

OVER 14.5 Pitcher Outs-153
MLB · Dodgers @ Rockies

Blake Snell

Snell returned with 10 strikeouts in six innings, and the swing-and-miss foundation was legitimate: his curveball, slider and changeup have each generated whiffs on more than 40 percent of swings this season. Colorado has struck out in nearly 25 percent of its plate appearances against left-handers. Even if altitude limits Snell to five-plus innings, seven strikeouts are within reach with this arsenal.

OVER 6.5 Strikeouts-141
MLB HR · Dodgers @ Rockies

Max Muncy

This is the Los Angeles bat I want against Sugano. Muncy has three homers in his last 15 games, including two over the past week, with three barrels on his last 15 balls in play. Sugano has surrendered 17 home runs and a .900 OPS to left-handed hitters, while his fastball and sinker have both been hit hard. A warm night at Coors gives Muncy's pull-side power another boost.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+230
MLB HR · White Sox @ Cubs

Miguel Vargas

Vargas is running as hot as anyone in this lineup right now — four home runs in his last seven games, including one last night in Detroit, with an OPS over 1.300 in that stretch. The underlying contact backs up the power surge: he's barreling the ball at an elite rate and chasing very little, so this doesn't look like empty variance.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+348
MLB HR · Braves @ Twins

Matt Olson

Olson has homered in more than half of his last fifteen games and is carrying the National League's best extra-base-hit total into a matchup built for him. Bailey Ober is sitting in the high 80s with his fastball and leaning hard on a changeup that's been getting hit hard — a .437 expected wOBA against it — and lefties have taken him deep twelve times in 217 at-bats this season, well above what right-handers have done to him. Olson is a lefty bat on a barrel binge, four in his last seventeen balls in play, running into exactly the pitch and the platoon Ober struggles with most. Plus money on this much heat, against this much opportunity, is the number I want.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+241
MLB HR · White Sox @ Cubs

Munetaka Murakami

Murakami hit his 28th home run of the season last night in Detroit, a go-ahead shot in the seventh, and the exit velocity on his recent contact is the best of anybody on either roster tonight — he's squaring the ball up as hard as anyone in the sport right now. Yes, he's a left-handed bat against a left-handed starter, and on the surface that reads like a tough draw.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+320
MLB HR · Athletics @ Royals

Jac Caglianone

Nobody in this matchup is seeing the ball better right now. Caglianone is 21-for-49 with four home runs over his last 15 games, riding a 12-game hitting streak with multihit efforts in half of them, and the underlying contact backs the results up — 95.2 mph average exit velocity and three barrels in his last 21 balls in play.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+420
MLB HR · White Sox @ Cubs

Pete Crow-Armstrong

The batting average has been ugly for Crow-Armstrong lately — three hits in his last seven games — but a home run prop doesn't care about batting average, it cares about one swing, and he's still getting to his power. He went deep last night, his fourth homer in his last 15 games, and the barrel rate on his recent contact says the pop is real even while the average lags behind.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+320
MLB HR · Braves @ Twins

Austin Riley

Riley's contact quality the last week is loud — a 97 mph average exit velocity with four barrels on just sixteen balls in play. That kind of contact tends to turn into home runs whether or not the platoon sheet favors it, and Ober has already been homer-prone in three of his last six starts. Riley is squaring this pitching staff up as hard as anyone in the lineup right now, and plus-money still sitting on a hitter this locked in is a price I'll take.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+425
MLB HR · Braves @ Twins

Josh Bell

Bell is a switch-hitter riding a .933 OPS with three home runs over his last fifteen games, and he gets to choose his side of the plate against the lefty Martín Pérez. Pérez has been dominant this month, but hitters have posted a .424 expected wOBA against his cutter, the one pitch in his mix that's been hittable — and Bell is squaring up the ball well enough right now to make him pay for a mistake there. A hot bat at plus-six hundred is a price worth using.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+600
MLB HR · White Sox @ Cubs

Seiya Suzuki

Suzuki is scalding right now, 8-for-24 with two homers and a 1.135 OPS over his last seven games, and the contact quality matches the results with an elite barrel rate and a whiff rate under 15 percent. The one thing working against him on paper is the platoon matchup, since Castillo has been noticeably tougher on right-handed hitters than lefties this season.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+430
MLB HR · Athletics @ Royals

Zack Gelof

The number that stands out for Gelof is five barrels on just 18 balls in play in his recent stretch — an elite rate of squared-up contact that lines up with the three home runs and 1.124 OPS he's carrying into tonight. He hits right-handed, and Michael Wacha, for all his success at Kauffman, has actually been the more hittable pitcher against right-handed bats this year — a .781 OPS and 11 homers allowed in 235 at-bats, compared to a stingy .635 against lefties. Wacha is a legitimate strike-thrower who won't hand out free passes, but when he misses a location, Gelof has been squaring it up as well as anyone on this roster lately. Good price for the matchup.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+600
MLB HR · Braves @ Twins

Mike Yastrzemski

Yastrzemski is a left-handed bat stepping into the exact matchup that's hurt Bailey Ober most this season — lefties have taken him deep twelve times in 217 at-bats, nearly double the rate right-handers have managed. Yastrzemski has two home runs over his last fifteen games and is squaring the ball up at a 94.5 mph average exit velocity, enough juice to make Ober pay if he leaves one up. The matchup fit is specific and the price is generous enough to take the swing.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+475
MLB HR · White Sox @ Cubs

Alex Bregman

Bregman has four home runs in his last seven games and a slugging line that looks more like a video game than a box score right now, and he's doing it with a five percent whiff rate, so he isn't chasing his way into these homers, he's putting the barrel on pitches he should hit. The raw contact-quality data isn't as loud as the results have been, so I'm not calling this a lock, but a low-strikeout hitter running this hot tends to sustain it better than a free-swinging slugger would. He also draws a pitcher who's been shaky away from home all year and was rocked for a 9.00 ERA over his last three road starts. Plus-670 is a square price for a bat this hot; I'll take the long number on the streak running one more night.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+670
MLB HR · Athletics @ Royals

Michael Massey

Massey has gone deep in two of his last three games, including Sunday's 3-for-4 night with a homer, and he's hitting .400 with two home runs over his last week. He's a left-handed bat catching Mason Barnett in one of the worst stretches a starter can be in — three home runs allowed in each of his last two outings, unable to finish the fifth inning in either one, and an .894 OPS surrendered to lefties this season. The exit velocity and barrel rate back the hot streak rather than it looking like empty batting-average luck. At this price, I'll take the swing.

OVER 0.5 Home Runs+830
MLB HR · Braves @ Twins

Brooks Lee

Lee hit a grand slam last night and has driven in five runs over his last week. He's a switch-hitter who gets the platoon edge against the lefty Pérez, and at this price I don't need much — the payout only requires me to be right under eleven percent of the time, and Lee has already gone deep in three of his last fifteen games. That gap between his recent rate and what the price demands is exactly what I'm paying for.
