Pirates -1.5I’m laying the hook with Pittsburgh because Braxton Ashcraft’s 3.02 ERA tells you he keeps games clean, and his 1.27 WHIP limits traffic. That plays into Colorado’s swing-happy middle, where Hunter Goodman has 117 strikeouts in 423 at-bats, so Ashcraft can get ahead and control counts. On the other side, Antonio Senzatela’s 7.00 ERA and 1.87 WHIP scream traffic and crooked numbers. Sure, Pittsburgh’s bats run hot and cold, but Senzatela’s .354 opponent average turns even light sticks into threats, and Bryan Reynolds’ 116 hits give them the finishing punch—have the guts to ride with me.

Phillies MoneylineI’m backing Philadelphia on the moneyline because Walker’s 3.34 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP fits a matchup against a Washington lineup that doesn’t scare you. Bryce Harper brings 21 homers to anchor a group that can cash chances, while the Nationals’ power behind CJ Abrams is thin. Cade Cavalli has allowed a .266 average with a 1.29 WHIP, so traffic is there even with the shiny ERA and this Philly order knows how to turn traffic into runs. The worry is Walker’s .251 average against, but Washington’s free swings—Brady House has 48 strikeouts—make it hard to build a crooked inning, so grab the better club at home and have the guts to ride with me.

Orioles MoneylineI’m backing Baltimore because Lance McCullers Jr. has a 6.90 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP, and a .267 average against means even a light-hitting lineup can turn all that traffic into runs. Cade Povich brings 90 strikeouts in 81.1 innings, and that swing-and-miss profile lines up against Houston’s free swingers like Cam Smith at 120 strikeouts and Christian Walker at 134, which snuffs out crooked innings. Sure, the O’s bats look thin with Colton Cowser at .211 and Coby Mayo at .205, but McCullers has been putting runners on in bunches, which tilts a tight game toward the home side. I’ve been around too long to overthink it—ride the cleaner mound form and make the market prove you wrong.

Yankees MoneylineI’m backing the Yankees because Max Fried’s 1.12 WHIP translates to clean frames, and his .228 opponent average keeps Boston starved for rallies. Boston’s bottom has soft bats, with Connor Wong at .180 and David Hamilton at .178, which plays into a command lefty who gets quick outs. Bello’s 1.26 WHIP means traffic, and Judge’s 40 homers tell you what happens when pitches leak. The worry is New York’s supporting cast can run cold, but Ben Rice’s 20 homers and Austin Wells’ 17 give enough lift at home to tilt a close one our way—so I’ll take the safer moneyline and make the book blink first.

Blue Jays -1.5I’m laying the run and a half with Toronto because Ryan Gusto’s 1.40 WHIP invites traffic, and this Jays lineup turns that contact into runs. Bo Bichette at .298 keeps the line moving, and Addison Barger’s 18 homers gives them the knockout swing. The gap in team quality shows at 74-54 versus 60-67, so once Toronto grabs a lead I expect them to separate rather than nurse a one‑run edge. The risk is the Jays can whiff in spots—Barger has 98 strikeouts—but Miami’s bats are lighter with Derek Hill striking out 42 times in 109, so a modest early cushion is likely to hold if you’ve got the guts to lay it.

Tigers MoneylineGive me Detroit on the moneyline — I’ll take the steady pro over the shiny new toy. Casey Mize is 12-4 with a 3.63 ERA, and that plays because Kansas City’s help behind Bobby Witt Jr. is light. Witt is batting .295, and beyond him the pop is thin with Adam Frazier sitting at 5 homers, so Mize can challenge without paying for mistakes. Ryan Bergert’s 2.75 ERA is clean, yet Detroit can grind with Gleyber Torres drawing 64 walks, which should push a young arm into tough counts; the worry is the Tigers aren’t a sledgehammer, but this profile keeps the lid on variance and makes the short chalk the smart side — got the guts to ride it?
