Red Sox @ Marlins

This is a plus-money bet on the starter I trust more tonight. Sandy Alcantara has a 1.80 ERA over his last three starts; Ranger Suarez is at 5.40. Alcantara has completed at least six innings in each of his last six outings, while Suarez has not completed six in any of his last six. That difference in length gives Miami a chance to control most of this game with its best arm. Boston’s bullpen is the danger. It owns a 1.57 ERA over the last seven games compared with Miami’s 4.18, so the Marlins do not want this decided through a long relief battle. Alcantara is precisely why I am willing to accept that risk: his recent workload gives Miami a credible route to needing only a few late outs. The venue completes the case. Miami is 41-25 at home, while Boston is 37-27 on the road. Alcantara has a 1.29 ERA across his last three home starts; Suarez has a 5.11 ERA across his last three road starts. At +112, I do not need Miami to be the better club across an entire season. I need its starting-pitching and home-field advantages to carry this particular matchup often enough. My read says they do, so I am backing the Marlins outright.

Rays @ Tigers

I’m laying the short money with Tampa Bay, but I’m not requiring a two-run win. Drew Rasmussen brings a 3.01 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 138-to-25 strikeout-to-walk line; Framber Valdez sits at 4.35, 1.40 and 111-to-54. Their last-three-start ERAs are closer—3.71 against 3.93—but Rasmussen’s control gives Tampa Bay the cleaner path through the opening innings. The larger separation comes after the starters. Tampa Bay’s current bullpen owns a 2.40 ERA and 0.96 WHIP, compared with Detroit’s 3.68 and 1.40. Over the last three games, the Rays’ relievers allowed three earned runs in eight innings; the Tigers’ relievers allowed 11 in 12. Rasmussen’s team has also won each of his last six starts. I’m choosing the moneyline because the evidence does not demand margin. Comerica Park carries a 0.95 pitcher-friendly factor, Detroit has the better fielding percentage, and the Tigers’ .246/.736 production against right-handers is stronger than Tampa Bay’s .249/.682 line against left-handers. Those are legitimate reasons to respect Detroit, but not enough to overcome Tampa Bay’s advantage across the complete pitching chain. Rays to win is the ticket.

Rockies @ Nationals

I’m laying the run with Washington. The Nationals have scored only 2.7 runs per game over their last 10, compared with Colorado’s 4.6, so this is not blind faith in the home offense. It is a bet on the clearest difference in this matchup: the pitching from the opening inning through the bullpen. Cade Cavalli has allowed three earned runs across 20.0 innings in his last three starts, striking out 29 and walking five. Ryan Feltner has allowed 12 earned runs across 15.1 innings in his last three, with seven strikeouts and nine walks. Their season lines point the same way: Cavalli has a 3.22 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, while Feltner has a 5.97 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. Cavalli also worked six scoreless innings against Colorado in July, holding the club to four hits in 22 at-bats. One start is not a guarantee, but it supports everything his current form already says. The advantage continues after the starters. Washington’s current bullpen owns a 4.05 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, compared with Colorado’s 4.91 and 1.59. Colorado can make this uncomfortable, and Washington’s cold lineup is the risk attached to laying 1.5. My read is that the Nationals do not require a complete offensive revival—they need enough production against Feltner for Cavalli and the stronger bullpen to make the difference. At +110, I’ll take that pitching gap and accept the run-line requirement.

Rangers @ White Sox

Rocker enters with a 6.87 August ERA and a 7.62 ERA across his last three starts. Chicago starts five left-handed hitters against him, and lefties have produced a .287 average and .851 OPS this season. Texas has its own opening against Urquidy: five right-handed hitters facing a pitcher who has allowed a .412 average and 1.105 OPS to righties. That Urquidy split, however, covers only 34 at-bats, while Rocker’s trouble against lefties spans 261. Urquidy’s first start of the season creates real risk, but Chicago has the stronger fallback if neither starter provides length. The White Sox bullpen owns a 2.58 ERA over its last seven games, compared with 4.18 for Texas. No Chicago reliever worked both of the past two days, while Peyton Gray did so for the Rangers. The offensive form points the same way: Chicago has scored 4.4 runs per game over its last 10, against 2.4 for Texas. I want the moneyline because this game can remain tight. Texas is 22-13 in one-run games, while Chicago is 23-20, so laying 1.5 runs would ask for an outcome my read does not require. At -128, I’m backing the White Sox’s left-handed matchup, recent scoring and better-positioned bullpen to carry the night at home.

Ranger Suarez

Suarez has not completed six innings in any of his five starts since returning from his three-week layoff, recording 12, 14, 9, 15 and 16 outs. He needed 93 pitches to get through 5 1/3 innings last time, and Boston has little reason to extend him with its bullpen carrying a 2.89 ERA and a manageable recent workload. I expect another early handoff before Suarez records an 18th out.

UNDER 17.5 Pitcher Outs-120
MLB · Red Sox @ Marlins

Sandy Alcantara

Alcantara has allowed only four earned runs across his last five starts, completing at least six innings every time. His slider has produced a .122 xwOBA, his sinker sits at .247, and he owns a 2.69 home ERA with a 1.29 mark across his last three starts in Miami. Boston is dangerous, but it has a .718 OPS against right-handed pitching. Making the Red Sox score three earned runs against this version of Alcantara is a fair requirement at -130.

UNDER 2.5 Pitcher Earned Runs-130
MLB · Rays @ Tigers

Framber Valdez

Valdez has issued at least two walks in seven of his last eight starts, including 11 across his last three. His sinker generates only a 21.3% chase rate, and he has walked 54 batters in 138.2 innings this season. Tampa Bay does not need to hit him hard for this to cash; two extended counts are enough.

OVER 1.5 Pitcher Walks-146
MLB · Rays @ Tigers

Drew Rasmussen

I’ll take plus money on Rasmussen holding this lineup to four hits or fewer. He owns a 0.95 WHIP and has limited left-handed hitters to a .220 average and right-handed hitters to .183. Detroit is also without Gleyber Torres and Eduardo Valencia tonight, leaving a thinner order for a pitcher whose four primary offerings all carry an xwOBA of .300 or lower.

UNDER 4.5 Pitcher Hits Allowed+107
MLB · Rockies @ Nationals

Ryan Feltner

Feltner has topped 3.5 strikeouts only once in his last six starts, producing seven total strikeouts across his last 15.1 innings. His four-seamer generates just a 14.7% whiff rate, and Washington has several contact-oriented bats in Keibert Ruiz, Jorbit Vivas and Nasim Nunez. With Feltner also failing to complete six innings in each of his last three starts, I’m taking the under at nearly even money.

UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts-104
MLB · Rockies @ Nationals

Cade Cavalli

Cavalli has recorded 29 strikeouts over his last 20 innings, including consecutive games with 10 or more, and he struck out eight Rockies over six scoreless innings in their July meeting. His curveball carries a 38.8% whiff rate, while Colorado’s lineup includes several hitters with recent whiff rates around 27% or higher. Cavalli has completed at least six innings in eight straight starts, giving him enough runway to clear this number. I’ll take the over at plus money.

OVER 6.5 Strikeouts+105
MLB · Rangers @ White Sox

Miguel Vargas

Vargas has drawn a walk in 10 of his last 15 games, and his recent 14% chase rate shows that plate discipline is supporting the streak. Rocker has issued eight walks in 13 innings across his last three starts and has exceeded 1.5 walks in six of his last eight.

OVER 0.5 Walks+115
MLB · Rangers @ White Sox

Tristan Peters

Peters is batting .289 with an .825 OPS against right-handed pitching and has gone 12-for-37 with three home runs over his last 15 days. Rocker has allowed left-handed hitters to bat .287 with an .851 OPS, giving Peters the favorable side of the starter matchup.
