The read
Target Center gets a Minnesota team without Anthony Edwards tonight, and Golden State closes a three-game road trip with its real core in uniform. The market knows Edwards is out. The question is whether 3.5 points is enough of a discount, and I don't think it is.
Edwards has been Minnesota's whole half-court offense: 33.25 points a game, two 45-plus nights, and 104 of the team's 375 shots, about 28%. That load now lands on LaMelo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu and Terrence Shannon Jr. Ball turned it over 7 times in Cleveland, the only close game Minnesota has played. Shannon has been efficient at 16-32 from the field, but in a 20-24 minute bench role. The Wolves' blowouts came against Miami (0-4), a short-handed Orlando and a Toronto team without Kawhi Leonard.
Fatigue tilts this way too. This is Minnesota's third game in four nights, coming off an overtime loss where McDaniels played 37 minutes and Gobert and Kuminga 36 each. Golden State's core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Brandin Podziemski sat out Saturday in Phoenix, and Curry played just 27 minutes in Denver.
When that core plays with Yaxel Lendeborg, the Warriors have been competitive. They lost by 3 to 4-0 Memphis, which covers this number, and they won by 20 in Denver. I'm not buying a repeat of Denver. The Warriors hit 22-44 from three that night, against 33.6% in their other three games. Curry went 8-8, and Denver was without Cameron Johnson and three others. I'm betting on a close game, not a shootout.
Here's what beats this ticket: - Rebounding. Minnesota averages 16.25 offensive rebounds a game, and Golden State starts Green at center. - Turnovers. The Warriors have had 16-19 in every game. - Lendeborg's foot. Lendeborg is listed Available after a sore left foot and went through a normal shootaround, but there's no final word from Steve Kerr. Lendeborg has scored 12, 18, 26 and 31. If Lendeborg is scratched or limited, this lean gets a lot weaker. - Santos. Gui Santos is Questionable too.
It's a lean, not a hammer. Take the fresher core and the points against a tired team still figuring out who scores.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
MIN won last season's series 3-1
3-1Minnesota beat Golden State three of four times last season, but the average margin was only 4 points. Anthony Edwards is out tonight, so last season's close series is a weak guide for this game.
REPLACEMENT
Donte DiVincenzo is OUT for MIN
OUTMinnesota is without Donte DiVincenzo while he recovers from Achilles surgery. That leaves more ball-handling for LaMelo Ball.
Kristaps Porzingis is OUT for GSW
OUTKristaps Porzingis is out for Golden State and is not with the team, with reports saying he is weighing his future. Along with Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, Golden State is missing a lot of size and scoring, which puts more on Stephen Curry.
Jimmy Butler is OUT for GSW
OUTJimmy Butler is out for Golden State as he recovers from right ACL surgery. Golden State is also without Kristaps Porzingis and Moses Moody, so the supporting cast around Stephen Curry is thin.
Moses Moody is OUT for GSW
OUTMoses Moody is out for Golden State as he works back from left patellar tendon surgery. With Jimmy Butler and Kristaps Porzingis also out, Golden State's wing depth is short at Minnesota.
Anthony Edwards is OUT for MIN
OUTAnthony Edwards is out against Golden State. The team is calling it right knee injury management, and earlier reporting said he would have arthroscopic surgery on that knee. Expect a longer absence, so Minnesota numbers built with him in the lineup may not apply for a while.
Yaxel Lendeborg is Questionable for GSW
QuestionableYaxel Lendeborg is questionable with left foot soreness. Check his status before betting Golden State in Minnesota.

2- GARY'S PICKDRAYMOND GREENPOINTS REBOUNDS ASSISTS UNDER 18.5
This number is priced for a version of Draymond the Warriors haven't been using. His whole stat line right now is assists. He's taking a handful of shots a night, his scoring has been close to nothing, and his rebounding is modest because Lendeborg is crashing the glass from the wing. His combined totals have stayed in the mid teens all season, and that's playing in the high twenties for minutes.
Tonight doesn't change his role. Curry and Podziemski are both back to handle the ball, and Lendeborg is playing through his foot, so the offense still runs through other people. At center he draws Gobert, the worst possible matchup for a small center who wants to steal extra boards. Getting over this line takes a big rebounding night and a scoring night together, and nothing in how Golden State plays him points to that. I'll pay the juice on the under.
- GARY'S PICKRUDY GOBERTREBOUNDS OVER 12.5
This is the best matchup on the board for him, and I'm getting plus money on it. Golden State has no real size. Porzingis is away from the team, Horford plays limited minutes, and the starting center is Draymond Green. The Warriors also put up a lot of shots, especially threes, so there will be plenty of misses for Gobert to collect at the defensive end.
With Edwards out, Minnesota loses its top shot creator. More of the offense goes to Ball, Dosunmu and Shannon, which means tougher looks and more misses for Gobert to clean up on the offensive glass. He's averaging over fourteen rebounds and just grabbed twenty in Cleveland in heavy minutes. Lendeborg is the Warriors' best rebounder and he's playing on a sore foot. Gobert at home against a small lineup clears this line comfortably, so I'll take the plus price.
