Houston Rockets @ New Orleans Pelicans

TALE OF THE TAPE New Orleans Houston Record 5-22 16-7 ← Off Rating 107.2 118.8 ← Def Rating 118.7 110.0 ← Net Rating -11.5 8.8 ← Key Injuries Dejounte Murray (OUT) VanVleet, Finney-Smith (OUT); Eason (Q) Gary's Take New Orleans is fighting uphill here. They’re at home, but they’re bringing one of the worst overall efficiency profiles on the board into a matchup with a Houston team that has dominated both ends of the floor. With Dejounte Murray out, more creation falls on Jordan Poole, Trey Murphy III, and Zion Williamson, but this group already struggles to score efficiently and now sees a defense that grades clearly better than their own. Houston’s offense is humming behind Alperen Sengun and Kevin Durant, with a big edge in shooting efficiency and a giant advantage on the offensive glass thanks to bodies like Steven Adams and Clint Capela. Even without Fred VanVleet and Dorian Finney-Smith, the Rockets have more scoring options, more size, and a much stronger defensive backbone. Over 48 minutes, that efficiency gap plus the rebounding edge should show up as a comfortable margin. I expect Houston to slow the pace toward their style, win the possession battle, and steadily push this out beyond double digits in the second half. Give me Houston Rockets -9.5 -106.

Miami Heat @ Brooklyn Nets

TALE OF THE TAPE Brooklyn Nets Miami Heat Record 7-18 → 14-12 Off Rating 112.8 → 114.9 Def Rating 119.6 → 111.0 Net Rating -6.8 → +3.9 Key Injuries Liddell (OUT), Thomas (OUT), Herro (OUT), Larsson (OUT), Highsmith (OUT) Jovic (OUT), Rozier (OUT) Gary's Take Miami brings a clear quality edge into this one. Even with Tyler Herro and Terry Rozier sidelined, their overall efficiency profile is stronger on both ends, and the defensive gap between these two teams is massive. Brooklyn’s metrics point to a bottom-tier defense, while Miami grades out as a well-above-average unit that can squeeze possessions and force tough looks. With Cam Thomas out, the Nets lose a key on-ball scorer, putting more weight on Michael Porter Jr. and Nicolas Claxton to generate offense against Bam Adebayo anchoring the middle. Miami’s offense should still flow through Adebayo’s playmaking, with Andrew Wiggins, Norman Powell, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. attacking a soft perimeter and getting quality threes and paint touches. Over four quarters, that efficiency edge tends to show up on the scoreboard. Brooklyn has shown flashes lately, but their poor home record and weak defense make it hard to trust them to keep pace if Miami’s shots normalize after this recent skid. I expect the Heat to use their defensive intensity and more balanced scoring to create separation in the second half. Give me Miami Heat -7.5 -112 to get right against an overmatched Nets team.

Toronto Raptors @ Milwaukee Bucks

TALE OF THE TAPE Milwaukee Bucks Toronto Raptors Record 11-16 → 16-11 Off Rating 113.8 → 114.0 Def Rating 114.7 → 113.2 Net Rating -0.9 → +0.7 Key Injuries Giannis Antetokounmpo (OUT); Taurean Prince (OUT); A.J. Green (Q) → RJ Barrett (OUT) Gary's Take Giannis Antetokounmpo being out completely flips Milwaukee’s identity. Their season-long numbers already trail Toronto in net rating and defensive efficiency, and now they lose the one guy who bends the entire defense. That leaves Bobby Portis and Gary Trent Jr. trying to carry an offense that’s been league-average overall, while still tied to a defense that hasn’t held up. Toronto, on the other hand, brings a more balanced profile. Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley give them multiple creators, Jakob Poeltl anchors the interior, and this group has been comfortable on the road all year. The Raptors own the better record, better net rating, and stronger late-game track record, which matters in a spread in this range. Milwaukee’s path is hot shooting from deep and low turnovers at home, but over 48 minutes Toronto’s two-way edge and the Bucks’ loss of their star should show up. I’m laying the points with Toronto Raptors -4 -110.

Detroit Pistons @ Dallas Mavericks

TALE OF THE TAPE Dallas Mavericks Detroit Pistons Record 10-17 → 21-5 Off Rating 110.2 → 115.4 Def Rating 110.7 → 110.6 Net Rating -0.5 → 4.8 Key Injuries Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II, Dante Exum None Gary's Take Detroit comes in playing like a contender while Dallas is scrambling without Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II. The overall efficiency and record gap is real: Detroit has been one of the most consistent teams in the league, while Dallas has hovered around average even when healthier. Cade Cunningham is driving a high-end offense, surrounded by shooting from Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson, and Isaiah Stewart, with Jalen Duren punishing the glass. That matches up perfectly against a Mavericks group that already trails in shooting efficiency and three-point accuracy and now has to protect the paint without Lively. Anthony Davis has to carry the interior load, while D'Angelo Russell and Klay Thompson are facing a Detroit team that also wins the offensive rebounding and free-throw battles. With recent statement wins over Boston, Atlanta, and Milwaukee, Detroit has the firepower and discipline to pull away from this short-handed Dallas roster. I’m backing the Detroit Pistons to cover the -7.5 spread.

Orlando Magic @ Denver Nuggets

TALE OF THE TAPE Denver Nuggets Orlando Magic Record 19-6 ← 15-11 Off Rating 124.7 ← 110.3 Def Rating 114.1 → 108.3 Net Rating +10.6 ← +2.0 Key Injuries Gordon, Braun (OUT) Suggs, Wagner, Castleton (OUT) Gary's Take Denver brings one of the league’s most efficient offenses into altitude against an Orlando team missing Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, two of their best perimeter defenders and secondary shot creators. With Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray orchestrating, the Nuggets’ ball movement and spacing should consistently generate clean looks, especially from three, where Denver owns a clear volume and accuracy edge while the Magic lag behind. Orlando’s hope is to lean into physical advantages: Paolo Banchero attacking the paint, a stronger offensive rebounding profile, and a higher free-throw rate to slow the game and grind out points. But shorthanded on the perimeter, asking this group to chase Denver’s shooters for 48 minutes in a fast-paced, high-possession environment is a big ask, particularly in Denver’s building. I see Denver’s shot-making and offensive rhythm gradually stretching this out in the middle quarters and forcing Orlando into a three-point shootout they’re not built to win. Give me Denver Nuggets -7 -106 to handle their business at home.

Sacramento Kings @ Portland Trail Blazers

TALE OF THE TAPE Portland Trail Blazers Sacramento Kings Record 10-16 ← 6-20 Off Rating 113.9 ← 108.4 Def Rating 116.2 ← 118.7 Net Rating -2.3 ← -10.3 Key Injuries Holiday, Thybulle, Sabonis, LaVine, Scoot Henderson, Eubanks (all OUT), Lillard (all OUT) Schroder (Q) Gary's Take Portland owns the efficiency edge on both sides of the ball and now gets a Sacramento team stripped of its hub in the middle. Without Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine, the Kings lose their best creator and a major scoring option, and that shows up in a weaker offense, softer defense, and a big gap on the glass. Jerami Grant and Deni Avdija should live in attack mode against a thin Kings frontcourt, generating free throws and second-chance looks where Portland already grades out better. DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk can keep Sacramento afloat for stretches, but asking this Kings defense to get enough stops on the road without Sabonis’ presence is a tall order. Portland’s structural advantages in efficiency, rebounding, and trips to the line set up a comfortable home win. I’m laying the number with Portland Trail Blazers -9 -108. The main way this misses is if Portland’s guard injuries bog down their offense and DeRozan drags the Kings into a late-game cover.

Kyren Williams

Williams has 13 total TDs in 14 games and is the clear goal-line back, handling the lion’s share of red zone rushing for the Rams. Seattle is middling against the run and allows 23.1 fantasy points per game to RBs, suggesting ample scoring opportunities on the ground and via checkdowns. With Davante Adams doubtful, the Rams’ red zone tree condenses, making Kyren even more central inside the 10. On a short week, Sean McVay is likely to lean on his most trusted every-down RB near the stripe.

OVER 0.5 Anytime Td+120
NFL · Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Colby Parkinson

Parkinson has quietly become a real red zone piece with 6 TDs on just 38 targets, a strong conversion rate that McVay has leaned into since Higbee went down. Seattle is allowing 11.2 fantasy points per game to TEs, notably softer there than against RBs, and their zone looks often leave seams and flat routes open near the goal line. In a game where Adams is likely out, the Rams will need secondary weapons in scoring areas, boosting Parkinson’s end-zone target share. At +215, his combination of role, matchup, and size-based usage near the goal line is underpriced relative to his TD rate.

OVER 0.5 Anytime Td+215
NFL · Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Puka Nacua

Nacua is averaging over 105 yards per game with 129 targets in 13 games and is heavily scripted into early drives as Matthew Stafford’s primary read. Seattle’s pass defense is 22nd and is particularly vulnerable to high-volume WRs, allowing 36.8 fantasy points per game to the position. With Adams doubtful, early-game designs should funnel even more through Puka on slants, crossers, and quick hitters to get Stafford in rhythm. That mix of volume, opening-drive emphasis, and matchup makes him a strong candidate to strike first at appealing odds.
