The read
Lamar Jackson walks back into the huddle at Highmark Stadium after three weeks on the sideline, and the Bills are laying a field goal on a clear, 70-degree afternoon. That number was built on the Huntley Ravens, and that isn't the team taking the field today.
In Huntley's three starts, Baltimore averaged 5.1 yards per play and scored 30, 10 and 13. In Jackson's three full starts, it ran 6.9 yards per play, scored 41, 17 and 34, and turned 8 of 12 red-zone trips into touchdowns. Even a taped-up Jackson runs a different offense.
Buffalo's defense is the soft side of this game, and it's thinner today. The Bills have allowed 29 or more points in five of six games, 5.6 yards per play, and touchdowns on 18 of 26 red-zone trips. The pass rush has gone quiet, with no sacks at Las Vegas and one against the Rams. Free safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a 95-100% snap player before the Week 6 ejection, is suspended, so Damar Hamlin starts. Nickel back Dee Alford missed Thursday and Saturday practice and is reported as likely out. That puts practice-squad call-ups in coverage against Zay Flowers, who had 137 yards last week with Huntley throwing.
Buffalo also doesn't win by margin. Its results read +5, +10, +8, -3, +3 in overtime and +3. Three of six were decided by exactly a field goal, so getting the full 3 matters. Nine giveaways in six games doesn't hurt the underdog either.
The risk is real. Jackson was never seen running at full speed this week and still feels it when planting the left foot, which affects throwing, not just scrambling. Ed Oliver is back for Buffalo's rush. Without Jaylinn Hawkins last week, Baltimore let Joe Burrow throw four touchdowns, gave up touchdowns on all five red-zone trips and missed 10 tackles. Hawkins is out again, now against Josh Allen and James Cook. The Bills are coming off a bye, and the Ravens play again Thursday.
That's why this is a measured play, not a hammer. Still, the market is charging three points for a defense that gives up points every week and is patching its secondary, against an offense getting its quarterback back. I'll take the field goal.

Josh Allen is the projected starting quarterback for BUF
8.79 Y/AThrough 6 games in 2026, Josh Allen threw for 1504 passing yards, completed 66.7% of his passes and averaged 8.79 yards per attempt. Last season over 17 games he threw for 3668 yards, completed 69.3% and averaged 7.97 yards per attempt, 25-10 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 9-4 touchdown-to-interception line is 6 games in.
Lamar Jackson is the projected starting quarterback for BAL
10.07 Y/AThrough 4 games in 2026, Lamar Jackson threw for 967 passing yards, completed 70.8% of his passes and averaged 10.07 yards per attempt. Last season over 13 games he threw for 2549 yards, completed 63.6% and averaged 8.44 yards per attempt, 21-7 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 6-1 touchdown-to-interception line is 4 games in.
PASS RUSH
BUF: 11.8 sack yards lost per game to BAL's 17.3
5.5 YDSBAL is at 17.3 sack yards lost per game over 7 games; BUF is at 11.8 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 17.2 over 17 games and BUF at 21.3 over 17 games.
BUF: 2 sacks taken per game to BAL's 2.57
0.57 SACKSBAL is at 2.57 sacks taken per game over 7 games; BUF is at 2 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 2.65 over 17 games and BUF at 2.86 over 17 games.
PACE & SCRIPT
BAL @ BUF carries a 54.5 market total
54.5Sitting 9 points over the 45.5 slate median, this total says the market expects both offenses to finish drives in Buffalo, with points arriving from both sides rather than one team carrying it. That is the top of a 13-game board, tied with one other game, so the bar for an over is high. For it to crack, one offense has to stall early and turn this into a single-team game. If you lean under, early drives that end in field goals are the sign to watch.
BUF: 32.8 points per game to BAL's 24.1
8.7 PPGBuffalo puts up 32.8 points a game over six games to Baltimore's 24.1 over seven. Baltimore is close to last season's 24.9, while Buffalo is up from 28.3, so the Bills are on a hot run. Some cooling is possible over six games, but they were already good last year. At home, Buffalo is the team likely to dictate the scoreboard, with Baltimore needing to keep up.
BAL: 23.9 points allowed per game to BUF's 28.5
4.6 PPGBAL is at 23.9 points allowed per game over 7 games; BUF is at 28.5 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 23.4 over 17 games and BUF at 21.5 over 17 games.
BAL: 31:55 time of possession per game to BUF's 29:04
2:51 TOPBAL is at 31:55 time of possession per game over 7 games; BUF is at 29:04 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 29:11 over 17 games and BUF at 33:09 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
BAL: 0.71 turnovers committed per game to BUF's 1.5
0.79 TOBaltimore has been careful with the ball this season, coughing it up about half as often as last season's 1.35. Buffalo has gone the other way, up from 1.12 to 1.5 over 6 games. Turnover rates swing a lot over a few games, so both numbers probably move back toward last season. Don't price this game as if Buffalo will keep giving it away.
BAL: 0.43 fumbles lost per game to BUF's 0.83
0.4 FUMBAL is at 0.43 fumbles lost per game over 7 games; BUF is at 0.83 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 0.71 over 17 games and BUF at 0.53 over 17 games.
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS
BUF: 6.55 yards per play to BAL's 5.91
0.64 Y/PBAL is at 5.91 yards per play over 7 games; BUF is at 6.55 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 5.92 over 17 games and BUF at 5.94 over 17 games. BAL had 2 plays of 20+ yards in its last game, led by 48-yard pass for a touchdown (Zay Flowers 48 Yd pass from Tyler Huntley (Tyler Loop Kick)); 20-yard pass (Tyler Huntley Pass Complete for 20 Yds to Zay Flowers). BUF had 4 plays of 20+ yards in its last game, led by 37-yard pass (Josh Allen Pass Complete for 37 Yds to Joshua Palmer); 26-yard pass (Josh Allen Pass Complete for 26 Yds to James Cook III); 23-yard pass (Josh Allen Pass Complete for 23 Yds to James Cook III).
RED ZONE
BUF: 4.33 red-zone trips per game to BAL's 3.43
0.9 TRIPSBAL is at 3.43 red-zone trips per game over 7 games; BUF is at 4.33 over 6 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 31. Last season BAL was at 3.47 over 17 games and BUF at 3.82 over 17 games.
MISMATCH
BAL: 0.71 turnovers a game to BUF's 1.5
0.71 VS 1.5Baltimore gives the ball away 0.71 times a game over seven games, Buffalo 1.5 over six. Both have flipped from last season, when the Ravens were at 1.35 and the Bills at 1.12, so turnovers this small in sample tend to swing back. In a close game in Buffalo, one extra giveaway can decide it, and right now the Bills are the side more likely to cough it up.
COVERAGE
BAL: 220.9 passing yards allowed per game to BUF's 285.8
65 YPGBaltimore allows 220.9 passing yards a game over 7 games, while Buffalo gives up 285.8 in its 6. Passing yards allowed rise when teams build leads and opponents throw late, and the sheet doesn't show the scripts either defense faced. At home, Buffalo's pass defense looks like the more vulnerable unit, which gives Baltimore's passing game the better setup.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
BUF lead the series with BAL since 2025
1-0 SERIESThere is one meeting to go on: Buffalo beat Baltimore 41-40 at home in Week 1 of last season. One game from over a year ago is a thin sample, but it was a shootout decided by a single point, the same matchup in the same building.
REPLACEMENT
Joe Fagnano (QB) is out for BAL
OUTFagnano is listed out for Baltimore with an undisclosed injury. He came out of Sunday's loss to the Bills saying he hopes to be ready for Thursday's game against the Jaguars, but he admitted he isn't 100 percent. With Tyler Huntley also questionable with a toe injury, the Ravens' quarterback room is thin. The sheet doesn't say who starts if both sit, so wait for Thursday's actives before trusting any Baltimore passing number.
Tyler Huntley (QB) is questionable for BAL
QUESTIONABLEHuntley picked up what could be turf toe during Sunday's 36-10 loss at Buffalo, so the injury is fresh and the diagnosis is still a maybe. Questionable means a real chance he plays and a real chance he doesn't, and turf toe is the kind of thing that limits how a quarterback plants and moves even when he suits up. The sheet doesn't name a backup, so watch the final injury report before betting anything tied to Baltimore's passing game.
DJ Moore (WR) is questionable for BUF
QUESTIONABLEMoore left late in Sunday's 36-10 win over the Ravens with a knee issue, then said afterward that he's okay. He is listed questionable. A late exit in a blowout win often means the team was being careful, and his own word points that way. Watch the practice reports this week: if he gets in full sessions, the knee is probably a non-factor for his usual role.
Tyrell Shavers (WR) is pup-r for BUF
PUP-RShavers has been designated to return from the PUP list with his knee injury, which opened his practice window Wednesday, but he won't play Sunday against the Ravens. Practicing again is a step toward a return. For this game, the Bills' receiver group stays as it has been.
Adam Randall (RB) is ir-r for BAL
IR-RRandall is still on injured reserve with a neck injury after the Ravens chose not to activate him Saturday, so he misses Sunday at Buffalo. He remains in his return window, which means activation is still possible in a later week. Baltimore runs this game with the backs already on the active roster.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson (S) is reserve-sus for BUF
RESERVE-SUSBuffalo lists Gardner-Johnson on the reserve suspended list, so he is unavailable against Baltimore. This is a suspension, and the Bills will have someone else at safety for this game.
Tavius Robinson (LB) is on injured reserve for BAL
IRThe Ravens placed Robinson (pectoral) on injured reserve Saturday. Reported Oct 24.

7d vs 14dBuffalo had a bye and gets 14 days to prepare, while Baltimore plays on a normal 7-day week. The home side gets the extra time to heal bumps and build a plan for this specific opponent, and Baltimore gets the usual week to install a game plan and travel. The rest gap is fixed by the schedule, so it holds up. Think of it as a modest preparation edge for Buffalo on top of home field. It matters more if Baltimore is carrying injuries into the week.
BAL (4-3) at BUF (5-1)
+24 PT GAPBaltimore is 4-3 but only +2, and it arrives on a two-game losing streak. The odd part is the split: the Ravens are 3-1 on the road, better than their overall record. Buffalo is 5-1, +26, has won two straight, and is 2-1 at home. The Bills have the cleaner profile and the momentum, and Baltimore's road mark is the reason not to write them off in this spot.

2- GARY'S PICKJOSH ALLENRUSHING YARDS UNDER 35.5
This number is inflated by one wild night in Los Angeles when Allen ran for 121. Outside that game and the Detroit shootout, he has lived in the low twenties or below, and his goal line work comes on one and two yard plunges that do almost nothing for a yardage total. Baltimore has kept every quarterback it has faced quiet on the ground this year, including Prescott, Ward and Penix, with nobody getting to 30. Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton are both off the injury report and practicing fully, so the spy and the second level are intact.
The game script also points the same way. Buffalo comes off a bye at home as the favorite, James Cook has carried this offense on the ground, and DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid are both trending toward playing in calm, clear weather. Allen has every reason to beat this defense through the air and hand it to Cook. If Buffalo protects a lead late, the kneel downs come out of his total too. I want the under.
- GARY'S PICKLAMAR JACKSONRUSHING YARDS UNDER 26.5
This line is priced as if the full Lamar is coming back. He is starting on a taped high ankle sprain, his first game since he got hurt in early October, and he says he still feels it when he plants his left foot. Planting and cutting off that foot is how he gets his rushing yards. Baltimore also plays Jacksonville on Thursday, four days later, so the staff has every reason to keep the designed runs on the shelf and keep him clean.
The matchup does not force him to run either. Buffalo's secondary is thin this week: Gardner-Johnson is suspended, the slot corner is likely out, and a practice squad safety is getting the call. Zay Flowers has been feeding on targets with Huntley throwing, and Lamar can do more damage with his arm against that group than with his legs. The Bills have held quarterbacks quiet on the ground except for one Drake Maye afternoon, and Ed Oliver returns to help that front. Expect a couple of scrambles and a careful game plan. I'll take the under.
