The read
Unbeaten Minnesota comes off its bye at U.S. Bank Stadium against a 2-4 Colts team that's losing bodies by the week. I'm on the Vikings because of the injury report, not the 5-0 record.
Kyler Murray hasn't had the full supporting cast yet. Justin Jefferson missed Wk 4 and played 12% of snaps in Wk 3. Jordan Addison and Christian Darrisaw sat in Wk 5, and T.J. Hockenson played just 3% of snaps that day. All of them are on track to play Sunday. The offense on film, with 230, 336 and 364 yards in Murray's starts, isn't the one taking the field.
Across from them, the Colts defense is thin. Sauce Gardner and CJ Allen are out, Justin Walley is questionable, and Bryce Boettcher didn't practice all week. The Colts had zero sacks and one QB hit against Tennessee, with Arden Key and Micheal Clemons on IR. This defense gave up 506 yards to Baltimore and 523 to Kansas City. Healthy receivers, a clean pocket and a depleted secondary are how a modest offense covers a near-touchdown number.
Daniel Jones loses Tyler Warren, the short-area outlet who caught 30 of 36 targets. In the first game without Warren, Jones took 6 sacks and 11 hits and threw 2 interceptions against a 1-5 Titans team. That's one game, but the mechanism is real.
The Colts' case is honest. Minnesota's 5-0 leans on takeaways and short fields: the 39-22 win over Green Bay came on 239 yards gained against 419 allowed. Spencer Shrader hasn't missed a field goal, with makes from 57 and 58, and the Colts have scored between 19 and 30 every week. If this turns into a field-goal trade indoors, 6.5 is a lot. But that case needs the patchwork Vikings offense, and Sunday it isn't patchwork.
None of these matter: Jones facing a former team, the Colts' trade-deadline chatter, the bye. If Addison, Hockenson or Darrisaw is a surprise scratch, I'd pass. Otherwise it's the Vikings to win by a touchdown. It's a lean, not a hammer.

QUARTERBACK
Daniel Jones is the projected starting quarterback for IND
5.92 Y/AThrough 6 games in 2026, Daniel Jones threw for 1290 passing yards, completed 59.6% of his passes and averaged 5.92 yards per attempt. Last season over 13 games he threw for 3101 yards, completed 68% and averaged 8.08 yards per attempt, 19-8 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 4-6 touchdown-to-interception line is 6 games in.
Kyler Murray is the projected starting quarterback for MIN
6.55 Y/AThrough 4 games in 2026, Kyler Murray threw for 662 passing yards, completed 68.3% of his passes and averaged 6.55 yards per attempt. Last season over 5 games he threw for 962 yards, completed 68.3% and averaged 5.97 yards per attempt, 6-3 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 2-2 touchdown-to-interception line is 4 games in.
TRENCHES
MIN: 86.6 rushing yards allowed per game to IND's 122.5
35.9 YPGIND is at 122.5 rushing yards allowed per game over 6 games; MIN is at 86.6 over 5 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 24.
PASS RUSH
MIN: 3.4 sacks recorded per game to IND's 1.67
1.73 SACKSMinnesota is averaging 3.4 sacks a game over 5 games, about double the Colts' 1.67 across 6. Paired with the Vikings' takeaway rate, that looks like a pressure defense that forces quarterbacks into bad spots. For Colts at Vikings, Indianapolis protection is the matchup to watch, and sack or interception props on the Colts quarterback lean the Minnesota way.
IND: 15.2 sack yards lost per game to MIN's 20.6
5.4 YDSIND is at 15.2 sack yards lost per game over 6 games; MIN is at 20.6 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 15.1 over 17 games and MIN at 24.9 over 17 games.
IND: 2.5 sacks taken per game to MIN's 3
0.5 SACKSIND is at 2.5 sacks taken per game over 6 games; MIN is at 3 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 2.07 over 17 games and MIN at 4 over 17 games.
PACE & SCRIPT
MIN: 12.8 points allowed per game to IND's 27.3
14.5 PPGMinnesota is allowing 12.8 points a game over 5 games, down from 19.6 last season, while Indianapolis gives up 27.3 over 6, worse than its 24.2 a year ago. Minnesota's defense is outperforming its own history by a lot, so some creep upward is likely. The Colts are on the road against a unit that has set the tone every week, which makes the Indy team total the cleaner place to think than the side.
IND: 66.7 offensive plays per game to MIN's 61.4
5.3 PLAYSIND is at 66.7 offensive plays per game over 6 games; MIN is at 61.4 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 59.9 over 17 games and MIN at 56.1 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
MIN: 2 takeaways per game to IND's 0.5
1.5 TOMinnesota is taking the ball away about two times a game across 5 games, while Indianapolis has managed about one takeaway every other week over 6. Turnovers swing on bounces, so neither rate is locked in, but a five-game run of steady takeaways says the Vikings defense pressures mistakes into existence. For Colts at Vikings, Indianapolis is the side more likely to give a short field, which matters for anyone leaning on Minnesota points or the Colts' ball security.
RED ZONE
MIN: 25% red-zone scoring allowed to IND's 61.1%
36.1 PPIND is at 61.1% red-zone scoring allowed over 6 games; MIN is at 25% over 5 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 24.
IND: 63.2% red-zone scoring rate to MIN's 50%
13.2 PPIND is at 63.2% red-zone scoring rate over 6 games; MIN is at 50% over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 65.2% over 17 games and MIN at 56.9% over 17 games.
IND: 3.17 red-zone trips per game to MIN's 2.4
0.77 TRIPSIND is at 3.17 red-zone trips per game over 6 games; MIN is at 2.4 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 3.88 over 17 games and MIN at 3 over 17 games.
MISMATCH
MIN: 12.8 points allowed a game to IND's 27.3
12.8 VS 27.3Minnesota's defense is giving up 12.8 points a game over five games, a big drop from 19.6 last season, while Indianapolis allows 27.3, worse than its 24.2 a year ago. The Colts have to win a low-scoring game, which means shortening it and avoiding mistakes against a unit that keeps scores down. Five games is a short run and 12.8 is a long way below last season, so some climb is likely. Minnesota's scoring edge depends on that defense holding.
COVERAGE
MIN: 4.6 yards per play allowed to IND's 5.8
1.2 Y/PIND is at 5.8 yards per play allowed over 6 games; MIN is at 4.6 over 5 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 24.
MIN: 173.2 passing yards allowed per game to IND's 228.7
55.5 YPGIND is at 228.7 passing yards allowed per game over 6 games; MIN is at 173.2 over 5 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 24.
MIN: 22.2% third downs allowed to IND's 30.4%
8.2 PPIND is at 30.4% third downs allowed over 6 games; MIN is at 22.2% over 5 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 24.
REPLACEMENT
Alec Pierce (WR) is on injured reserve for IND
IRAlec Pierce stays on injured reserve with a heel injury, and Shane Steichen said Monday his practice window will not open in Week 7. Pierce is the Colts' deep threat, so Indianapolis keeps losing that vertical stretch against Minnesota. With no return in sight this week, the other Colts receivers should keep soaking up his targets.

SITUATIONAL
MIN has 7 more days of rest
7d vs 14dMinnesota gets two full weeks to prepare off the bye, while Indianapolis is on a normal week. That extra time usually goes to healing nagging injuries and building a game plan specific to this opponent. Indy has no scheduling disadvantage beyond that, so the edge is preparation, and it's one input to weigh alongside matchups.
IND: 2.33 fourth-down attempts per game to MIN's 0.6
1.73 ATT/GIndianapolis goes for it on fourth down 2.33 times a game, up from 1.59 last season, while Minnesota has dropped to 0.6 from 1.41 over five games. The Colts are playing aggressive, which adds possessions and swings to their games. Minnesota is kicking more and trusting field position. Expect the Colts to pass up field goals, which can push totals and spreads both ways.
IND (2-4) at MIN (5-0)
+65 PT GAPMinnesota is 5-0 and +45, and 2-0 at home, so the unbeaten record is backed by a solid scoring margin. Indianapolis is 2-4 at -20 and has lost two straight, going 1-2 on the road. Five games is a modest sample, but nothing in the Vikings' numbers looks like luck. The question here is less about who wins and more about whether the Colts can keep it close in a building where Minnesota has not lost.
IND: 20 first downs per game to MIN's 15.4
4.6 FDIND is at 20 first downs per game over 6 games; MIN is at 15.4 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 20.7 over 17 games and MIN at 17.2 over 17 games.
IND: 199.8 team passing yards per game to MIN's 167
32.8 YPGIND is at 199.8 team passing yards per game over 6 games; MIN is at 167 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 227.8 over 17 games and MIN at 166.7 over 17 games.
IND: 37.5 penalty yards per game to MIN's 50
12.5 YDSIND is at 37.5 penalty yards per game over 6 games; MIN is at 50 over 5 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 24. Last season IND was at 51.2 over 17 games and MIN at 52.1 over 17 games.
STREAK
MIN has won 5 straight
W5MIN is unbeaten at 5-0 and hosts IND with all five wins in a row. The sheet doesn't list the opponents, so there's no telling how tough that schedule was. Five games is a real start but a short sample, and an undefeated record tends to push a team's price past what one more game justifies. For a bettor, the useful question is how much a 5-0 home favorite has to win by, more than whether MIN wins.

2- GARY'S PICKAARON JONES SR.RUSHING YARDS OVER 38.5
This number says the market expects Jordan Mason to take the backfield back. I don't think it swings that far.
Mason practiced in full and should be active, but he hasn't played since Wk 1. Since then Aaron Jones has carried the ground game: 23, 17, 20 and 25 carries the last four weeks, for 105, 58, 94 and 113 yards. The opener was the one game they shared the work. Mason got the bigger load that day, and Jones still ran 12 times for 40.
Sunday sets up for the run. I have Minnesota laying 6.5 at home off a bye, and this offense has leaned on its backs in Kyler Murray's starts. The Colts are short at linebacker. CJ Allen is out, Bryce Boettcher didn't practice all week, and Jaylon Carlies missed last week. Indianapolis has given up 575 yards on 126 carries to running backs, and Baltimore ran for 202 on them in Wk 1.
At 38.5, Jones gets there on a modest share. If Mason takes 10 or 12 carries, Jones still sees enough work against this front to clear it. A second-half lead means clock-killing carries, and those tend to go to the back who has run the offense for a month.
What beats it: Mason comes back as the clear lead back and Jones drops to the low teens in carries, the way the split looked in Wk 1. Fumbles that put Minnesota in catch-up mode would also cut into his volume.
- GARY'S PICKKEENAN ALLENRECEIVING YARDS OVER 40.5
Tyler Warren is out again, and the Colts already showed us where his targets go. In the first game without him, Keenan Allen played 59 snaps, his most of the season, and caught 8 of 11 targets for 82 yards. Daniel Jones threw 42 times that day.
The receiver room around Allen is even thinner this week. Alec Pierce stays on IR and Anthony Gould is out. That leaves Allen, Josh Downs, Laquon Treadwell and Will Mallory to absorb the short throws Warren used to catch. Allen is the veteran who wins on those short-area routes, and Jones goes to him when the pocket gets muddy.
The game script helps. I have Minnesota covering a near-touchdown spread, which keeps the Colts behind and throwing. Jones has thrown 42 and 44 times the last two weeks, and Allen has 29 targets over his last three games.
Minnesota's pass defense is the real obstacle. It has held quarterbacks to under 200 yards a game with 6 interceptions, and its front gets home. That's why I'd rather take the yardage at a modest number. 40.5 asks for five or six catches at short gains, and that's the role he played last week.
What beats it: Allen's snaps slide back toward the 32 he played at Pittsburgh, Mallory and Downs soak up the middle of the field, or Minnesota's pressure ends drives before Jones gets through his reads.
