The read
Wind gusting into the 30s and steady rain in Landover point to a grind, and the Giants have the pieces that win grinds. Rookie kicker Dominic Zvada hasn't missed (9 for 9, including three from 50+), and Jordan Stout keeps pinning opponents deep. Washington's kicker has missed twice from long range. Inside the 20, New York's defense has been a wall, and Washington's has been about the easiest in the league to score on. When touchdowns are hard to come by, that gap matters a lot.
Jayden Daniels is back, but it's his first live action in three weeks, in a brace, with orders to slide and protect himself. He's throwing to a thin group: Stefon Diggs is out, Terry McLaurin is a game-time call with a hamstring injury, and Jaylin Lane is on IR. Washington's running backs are averaging 2.8 yards a carry, so the run game falls on Daniels' legs, the very thing the team is trying to protect. Meanwhile Abdul Carter just had nine pressures in one game, and the Giants' corners are winning in man coverage.
On the other side, Washington's secondary is missing three safeties and a starting corner, and the defense has already given up five touchdowns to tight ends. Isaiah Likely is the Giants' top target. New York has picked off a pass in every game this year.
The risk is Jameis Winston. Washington blitzes a lot, and a turnover in the slop could flip it. But in a game that figures to come down to a field goal, I'll take the better defense, the better kicker and the extra half point past three.

QUARTERBACK
Jayden Daniels is the projected starting quarterback for WSH
5.1 Y/AThrough 2 games in 2026, Jayden Daniels threw for 260 passing yards, completed 56.9% of his passes and averaged 5.1 yards per attempt. Last season over 7 games he threw for 1262 yards, completed 60.6% and averaged 6.71 yards per attempt, 8-3 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 3-0 touchdown-to-interception line is 2 games in.
Jameis Winston is the projected starting quarterback for NYG
6.14 Y/AThrough 3 games in 2026, Jameis Winston threw for 479 passing yards, completed 55.1% of his passes and averaged 6.14 yards per attempt. Last season over 3 games he threw for 567 yards, completed 56.1% and averaged 8.59 yards per attempt, 2-2 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 3-3 touchdown-to-interception line is 3 games in.
TRENCHES
WSH: 4.22 yards per rush attempt to NYG's 3.57
0.65 Y/CNYG is at 3.57 yards per rush attempt over 4 games; WSH is at 4.22 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season NYG was at 4.31 over 17 games and WSH at 4.81 over 17 games.
PASS RUSH
WSH: 1.75 sacks recorded per game to NYG's 0.75
1 SACKSWashington's pass rush gets home about once more per game than the Giants' does, 1.75 sacks to 0.75 across four games each. The fact sheet doesn't say who either team faced, so part of that gap could be the quarterbacks and lines they drew. Four games is a small sample for sack totals, which swing on a handful of snaps. For this game, the Washington edge matters most if the Giants fall behind and have to throw on obvious passing downs.
PACE & SCRIPT
NYG: 19.8 points allowed per game to WSH's 30.5
10.8 PPGNYG is at 19.8 points allowed per game over 4 games; WSH is at 30.5 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season NYG was at 25.8 over 17 games and WSH at 26.5 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
NYG: 2 takeaways per game to WSH's 1.25
0.75 TOThe Giants are forcing 2 turnovers a game, Washington 1.25, both over four games. Takeaways are streaky and depend on bounces and opponent mistakes, so the Giants' pace is likely to slow. For this game, it is a small edge for New York, but turnover rates are a shaky foundation for any strong view.
WSH: 0.5 turnovers committed per game to NYG's 1.25
0.75 TONYG is at 1.25 turnovers committed per game over 4 games; WSH is at 0.5 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season NYG was at 1 over 17 games and WSH at 1.35 over 17 games.
WSH: 0.25 interceptions thrown per game to NYG's 0.75
0.5 INTNYG is at 0.75 interceptions thrown per game over 4 games; WSH is at 0.25 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season NYG was at 0.59 over 17 games and WSH at 0.71 over 17 games.
MISMATCH
NYG: 19.8 points allowed a game to WSH's 30.5
19.8 VS 30.5The Giants are allowing 19.8 points a game and Washington 30.5 over 4 games. Both moved a lot from last season, when the Giants allowed 25.8 and Washington 26.5, so the two defenses were close a year ago. Expect both to drift back toward the middle. Washington's defense has to hold up at home, and a bettor should be wary of pricing four games of defense as a full-season truth.
COVERAGE
NYG: 205.3 passing yards allowed per game to WSH's 242.5
37.3 YPGThe Giants allow 205.3 passing yards a game, Washington 242.5, both through four games. The opponents aren't listed, and passing yards against rise when a defense leads and the other team has to throw. Four games leaves room for both to move. The Washington number is the softer one in this matchup if the Giants can keep the game close enough to stay balanced.
WSH: 42% third downs allowed to NYG's 48.9%
6.9 PPNYG is at 48.9% third downs allowed over 4 games; WSH is at 42% over 4 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 10.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
WSH lead the series with NYG since 2025
2-0 SERIESWashington is 2-0 against the Giants since last season, and neither game was a coin flip. The Commanders won 21-6 at home on Sep 7, holding New York to two scores' worth of points, then won 29-21 on the road on Dec 14 in a game the Giants kept closer. Two meetings is a small sample, but the Giants scoring more in the rematch is the thread to follow when sizing up this one.
REPLACEMENT
Jeremy McNichols (RB) is ir-r for WSH
IR-RMcNichols is ruled out against the Giants with a quadriceps injury, still short of returning from injured reserve. Washington's backfield runs without him Sunday; the sheet doesn't say who absorbs his carries, so watch the active list before leaning on any Commanders back.
Jaxson Dart (QB) is on injured reserve for NYG
IRDart had surgery to repair the meniscus and MCL in his left knee and sits on injured reserve, reported Sep 30. That's a long-term absence, so the Giants play at Washington without him and their quarterback situation is the first thing to check before betting their offense.
Jermaine Eluemunor (OT) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLEThe Giants list tackle Jermaine Eluemunor as questionable for their trip to Washington, reported Oct 12. Questionable means a real chance he plays and a real chance he sits, and the report gives no injury detail to lean on. If he sits, the Giants need a fill-in at tackle, so his final status before kickoff matters for anything tied to their passing game.
Trey Amos (CB) is ir-r for WSH
IR-RTrey Amos is on the Commanders' designated-to-return list from injured reserve and was downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Giants with an ankle injury, per an Oct 11 report. The downgrade means the return from IR waits at least another week. Washington faces New York without Amos in the cornerback group, so look at how the Commanders line up their remaining corners against the Giants' receivers before trusting any passing number on either side.
Braxton Berrios (WR) is on injured reserve for NYG
IRThe Giants placed Berrios on injured reserve Wednesday with a foot injury, so he's out at Washington and for at least several weeks. It's another hit to a New York offense already without Dart.
Jaylin Lane (WR) is on injured reserve for WSH
IRThe Commanders placed receiver Jaylin Lane on injured reserve Tuesday with an ankle injury, per an Oct 6 report. IR means Lane misses multiple games and is unavailable Sunday against the Giants. Check who absorbs Lane's targets in Washington's receiver rotation before pricing any Commanders pass-catcher props.
Chauncey Golston (DE) is on injured reserve for NYG
IRThe Giants placed Golston (neck) on injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Reported Oct 11.
Leo Chenal (LB) is on injured reserve for WSH
IRThe Commanders placed Chenal (neck) on injured reserve Tuesday. Reported Sep 29.
Brian Burns (LB) is on injured reserve for NYG
IRThe Giants placed Burns (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports. Reported Sep 29.

SITUATIONAL
NYG (3-1) at WSH (1-3), a division game
-37 PT GAPThe Giants are 3-1 on just +3 points, so their record runs well ahead of how they have actually played, while Washington sits at -34. New York has won 2 straight but is 0-1 on the road, one game of evidence. Washington is 1-1 at home. A 3-1 team with a near-even point total tends to drift back, so in a division game the gap between these clubs is narrower than the records suggest.
NYG: 43.4% third-down conversion rate to WSH's 31.6%
11.8 PPThe Giants convert 43.4% on third down, a bit above last season's 40.2%, so they look solid at extending drives. Washington has fallen to 31.6% from 37.6% last season over 4 games, and that should move back up some. Right now, the Giants keep drives alive and Washington stalls more often, which affects possession counts and totals.
TEAM RECORD
NFC EAST game: NYG 1-0, WSH 0-2 in the division
DIVISIONThe Giants have won their only division game, and Washington has lost both of theirs. One and two games are tiny samples, so these marks say little about who is better. Division opponents know each other well, which tends to keep games closer than records suggest. Washington at home lets you weigh the 0-2 against the familiarity edge.

2- GARY'S PICKJAMEIS WINSTONPASSING YARDS UNDER 198.5
Jameis Winston under 198.5 passing yards at -115.
Winston has made three starts this year: 111 yards at the Rams, 118 against Tennessee and 250 against Arizona. The Tennessee game is the one I keep coming back to. It was played in rain with gusts near 40, the Giants never scored a touchdown, and they still won by leaning on the ground and their defense. Today in Landover the wind is gusting into the 30s with steady rain, which sets up that same script.
This offense wants to run even in good weather. Nagy and Roman built it around Cam Skattebo, a fullback in Patrick Ricard who plays roughly half the snaps, and heavy tight end looks. The Giants throw less than the game situation calls for and hold the ball as long as almost anyone in the league. Harbaugh knows his team wins when Skattebo gets his 18 or more carries, and in the slop that is the obvious plan. Washington's front has also been tough on the interior and blitzes a lot, so a Winston dropback in this weather is as likely to end in a sack or a throwaway as a long completion. Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely both spent the week managing knee issues in practice, which gives Nagy one more reason to stay conservative.
The strongest case against me is Washington's secondary. Three safeties are out, starting corner Trey Amos is out, and this defense has given up a lot through the air, including 379 yards to Sam Darnold. Winston was also sharp throwing deep last week against Arizona, and an aggressive blitz is exactly what gives him a shot at a big play. If Jayden Daniels gets Washington out in front early, Winston has to throw his way back and this number goes fast. I still see a field goal game in bad conditions, and that keeps him under.
- GARY'S PICKCHIG OKONKWORECEPTIONS OVER 3.5
Chig Okonkwo over 3.5 receptions at +128.
This is about where the catches go now. Stefon Diggs, Washington's leader with 18 catches on 31 targets, was ruled out Friday with a hamstring. Terry McLaurin is a game-time call with his own hamstring, and Jaylin Lane went on injured reserve this week. Okonkwo is fully healthy for the first time since Week 1 after missing two games with a hamstring of his own, and the beat coverage this week said plainly that his workload should rise. He also gets Jayden Daniels back, and with wind and rain in the forecast, Daniels will be living underneath. Short and middle of the field is where Okonkwo makes his money.
The Giants matchup helps. Their corners like to press and play man on the outside, and they have given up 28 catches to tight ends across four games, a lot of easy volume. Dennard Wilson leans on simulated pressure, and Daniels beats that look by getting rid of the ball quickly. A tight end who can win right away on a short route is the natural outlet.
The case against is real. Okonkwo caught two passes in each of his two games this season, and he shares the room with Ben Sinnott, John Bates and Colson Yankoff, so his snaps are not guaranteed. Rookie Antonio Williams led the team in routes last week and will soak up targets of his own, and McLaurin may still play. The Giants also keep the ball for long stretches, which cuts down Washington's total plays, and Daniels has completed under 57 percent of his throws this year. Over a full year with Tennessee, Okonkwo usually landed between two and four catches. I need four, but at plus money with this many receivers gone, I'll take the shot.
