The read
I like the Browns to win this one outright. Start with the Jets offense. Breece Hall is out. So are Adonai Mitchell and left guard Dylan Parham, and first-round receiver Omar Cooper Jr. is on IR. Behind Garrett Wilson and rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq, the next receiver up has one catch for three yards this year. The Jets ran 32 plays at Chicago last week and have given up 12 sacks in four games.
Now they face a Cleveland defense that went back to aggressive man coverage after the Week 1 blowout in Jacksonville and has looked like a different unit since. Last week it sacked Aaron Rodgers five times and picked him off twice while Mason Graham played only a handful of snaps. Losing Graham and Mike Hall Jr. inside is a real hit, and Braelon Allen will test that interior. But Cleveland's edge rushers and blitzing linebackers have been producing pressure on their own. The forecast is rain and gusty wind, which favors the team that wins field position and makes its kicks, and that's Cleveland. Andre Szmyt is 8-for-8 this season, including a 56-yard game-winner.
Cleveland punts better and covers punts far better than the Jets. On offense, Deshaun Watson's scrambling and the run game that came alive against Pittsburgh are the kind of plays that work in bad weather. Cleveland gets center Elgton Jenkins back and has had 10 days to prepare. The Browns start slowly and Watson can force throws, but they've won three straight games in the fourth quarter. The Jets have lost three straight and are missing their starting running back, their second receiver and their left guard. I'll take the plus-money underdog with the better defense and the better kicker in what should be a sloppy, close game.

The research
The dated measurements the app shows under this card — observations with their sample and source, not predictions.
QUARTERBACK
Deshaun Watson is the projected starting quarterback for CLE
7.43 Y/AThrough 4 games in 2026, Deshaun Watson threw for 855 passing yards, completed 69.6% of his passes and averaged 7.43 yards per attempt. His 6-2 touchdown-to-interception line rounds out the current sample without turning an early-season profile into a settled one.
Geno Smith is the projected starting quarterback for NYJ
7.71 Y/AThrough 4 games in 2026, Geno Smith threw for 902 passing yards, completed 72.7% of his passes and averaged 7.71 yards per attempt. Last season over 15 games he threw for 3025 yards, completed 67.4% and averaged 6.75 yards per attempt, 19-17 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 5-0 touchdown-to-interception line is 4 games in.
PASS RUSH
CLE: 3 sacks recorded per game to NYJ's 2.25
0.75 SACKSCleveland's front gets to the quarterback three times a game, the Jets 2.25, both over four games. Sack totals swing on a few plays and depend on the lines and quarterbacks faced, which the sheet doesn't list. Four games is a small base. Cleveland's rush is the side to factor in if the Jets end up in long-yardage passing downs.
PACE & SCRIPT
CLE @ NYJ carries a 39.5 market total
39.5Cleveland at the Jets is set at 39.5, 4 points under the 43.5 median, which points to a slower, lower-scoring game than most on the slate. It is less extreme than the lowest total here, so the market sees some scoring, just not much. For it to crack, one side has to hit a couple of explosive plays or gift field position with turnovers. Judge it by whether either offense can create points it does not have to grind out.
TURNOVERS
NYJ: 0.25 turnovers committed per game to CLE's 1.25
1 TOThe Jets have given the ball away once in 4 games, 0.25 a game, after 1.35 last season. That kind of clean month rarely lasts, so expect more giveaways from them going forward. Cleveland at 1.25 is a bit better than last season's 1.47 and looks closer to normal. If you're leaning on the Jets to win the turnover battle again, know that their current rate is the outlier here.
NYJ: 0.25 fumbles lost per game to CLE's 0.75
0.5 FUMCLE is at 0.75 fumbles lost per game over 4 games; NYJ is at 0.25 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CLE was at 0.41 over 17 games and NYJ at 0.59 over 17 games.
NYJ: 0 interceptions thrown per game to CLE's 0.5
0.5 INTCLE is at 0.5 interceptions thrown per game over 4 games; NYJ is at 0 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CLE was at 1.06 over 17 games and NYJ at 0.76 over 17 games.
MISMATCH
NYJ: 0.25 turnovers a game to CLE's 1.25
0.25 VS 1.25The Jets have 0.25 turnovers a game to Cleveland's 1.25 over 4 games. Last season the Jets were at 1.35 and Cleveland at 1.47, so the Jets' number is the outlier and is unlikely to last. Cleveland is close to its usual level. Cleveland's path is to force mistakes from a Jets offense that has hardly made any, and that regression is part of how to think about this spot.
COVERAGE
NYJ: 193.3 passing yards allowed per game to CLE's 235.3
42 YPGThe Jets allow 193.3 passing yards a game to Cleveland's 235.3, each over four games. The sheet doesn't say which passing offenses either faced, and four games of yardage can tilt on one shootout. A gap of this size can shrink quickly. At home, the Jets' coverage numbers point toward a tougher day for Cleveland's passing game than the Browns' defense presents for New York.
NYJ: 4.88 yards per play allowed to CLE's 5.47
0.6 Y/PThe Jets give up 4.88 yards per play, Cleveland 5.47, both across four games. Yards per play strips out pace and game script better than totals do, so this is a cleaner read on the Jets' defense being the stingier unit. Four games is still a small sample. In a game where both offenses may grind, the Jets' per-snap edge is the number that carries the most weight.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
NYJ lead the series with CLE since 2025
1-0 SERIESOne meeting: the Jets beat Cleveland 27-20 at home on Nov 9, a one-score game. This rematch is in the same stadium, but a single game is a thin base, so the result points to a competitive matchup more than a clear edge.
REPLACEMENT
Quinshon Judkins (RB) is questionable for CLE
QUESTIONABLEJudkins is listed as questionable after being seen in a walking boot on his right foot following Sunday's 17-12 loss at the Jets. A boot right after a game is a warning sign even without a diagnosis. Bettors looking at Browns rushing numbers should wait for his status before leaning on him.
Dillon Gabriel (QB) is ir-r for CLE
IR-RGabriel's back injury has him ruled out for Sunday at the Jets, and his designation shows he's on the return path from injured reserve without being ready yet. The sheet doesn't say who starts for Cleveland, so check the quarterback before backing any Browns passing number.
Carson Schwesinger (LB) is questionable for CLE
QUESTIONABLESchwesinger is questionable with a lower leg injury after he was seen in a walking boot following the 17-12 loss to the Jets. The boot is a real concern even with no diagnosis given. If he cannot go, Cleveland's linebacker group is down a body.
Kalia Davis (DT) is ir-r for CLE
IR-RKalia Davis has been designated to return from injured reserve but is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets with a quadriceps injury, per an Oct 10 report. The return window stays open while Davis keeps rehabbing. Cleveland heads to New York without Davis in the defensive tackle rotation, which matters most for how the Browns handle the Jets' run game.
Braiden McGregor (DE) is on injured reserve for NYJ
IRBraiden McGregor went on the Jets' injured reserve list Wednesday with a pectoral injury, per an Oct 7 report. McGregor is out Sunday against Cleveland and for at least several weeks. New York's edge rotation loses a body, which can shade how much pressure the Jets get on the Browns' quarterback.

SITUATIONAL
CLE has 3 more days of rest
10d vs 7dCleveland had the bye and shows up with 10 days to prepare, while the Jets are on a normal 7-day week. Those extra days usually go to healing bumps and building a game plan specific to this opponent. The Jets have home field, so the travel edge runs their way. Rest is one input among many, so weigh it as a small tilt toward Cleveland's preparation and freshness, and look at whether the line already accounts for it.
CLE (3-1) at NYJ (1-3)
+6 PT GAPCleveland is 3-1 on a 3-game win streak, yet sits at -14 on the year, so the record flatters them. The Jets are 1-3 at -8, better than their record, and have lost 3 straight. Cleveland is 1-1 on the road, the Jets 0-1 at home in one game. A 3-1 team with a negative margin is a classic candidate to come back toward the pack, and this matchup is closer than the standings say.
STREAK
NYJ has lost 3 straight
L3The Jets won their opener, then lost three in a row to sit at 1-3. The sheet does not show the opponents, so the slide could be schedule as much as form. Three games is a short stretch. At home against a Cleveland team on a three-game win streak, the market may be pricing in both streaks, which can leave value on the home side.
CLE has won 3 straight
W3Cleveland has won three straight after a loss to open the season, sitting at 3-1. The sheet does not say who those wins came against, so the quality is unclear. Three games is a short run. The Jets have lost three straight, so this spot pits a rising team against a sliding one, and the line will likely lean that way already.

2- GARY'S PICKBRAELON ALLENRECEPTIONS UNDER 2.5
I'm taking Braelon Allen under 2.5 receptions at -121. With Breece Hall out again, Allen is the lead back for a second straight week, and the carries belong to him. The catches are a different story. Allen has six receptions in four games this year and caught about one ball a game in his limited 2025 work. Hall was the back Geno Smith threw to, with 10 catches on 10 targets before he got hurt. Last week at Chicago, Allen played 30 of the Jets' 32 snaps and still finished with two catches for eight yards.
Those short targets have to go somewhere, and I expect a lot of them to land with the tight ends today. Mason Taylor is expected back from his thumb injury, which gives Smith another underneath option alongside Kenyon Sadiq, Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods. Cleveland has also been stingy against backs in the passing game, allowing 17 catches for 87 yards to running backs through four games. Rain and gusty wind should keep this game grinding, and Allen's value is between the tackles.
The case against me is volume. The Jets ran only 32 plays last week and should run far more today, Isaiah Davis barely plays behind him, and a Cleveland defense built on pressure and man coverage could push Smith into quick dump-offs. Allen also caught three passes at Detroit when the Jets were throwing a lot. Three catches is reachable for a back on the field this often, but his history says he rarely gets there, and I'll lay the short price on that.
- GARY'S PICKMASON TAYLORRECEPTIONS UNDER 1.5
I'm taking Mason Taylor under 1.5 receptions at +120. Taylor returns from a thumb injury that cost him two games, and the tight end room he comes back to has changed. Kenyon Sadiq, the first-round pick, has taken over as the lead tight end, playing his heaviest snap loads of the season in Weeks 3 and 4 and catching seven passes at Detroit. Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods have filled out the rest of the rotation.
Even before the injury, Taylor's role was shrinking. He caught two passes on three targets in the opener, then played close to half the snaps against Green Bay without drawing a single target. That is only a two-game sample in this offense, and it points the wrong way for the over. A thumb is a tough injury for a pass catcher in his first game back, and rain with gusty wind should trim the passing volume. At plus money I'm getting paid to fade a player who needs two catches out of a four-man tight end rotation.
The case against me is real. Taylor was a steady short target as a rookie in 2025, catching close to four balls a game across 10 games. The Jets are thin at receiver with Adonai Mitchell out and Omar Cooper Jr. on injured reserve, and the team's own notebook framed Taylor as back in the lineup after a full week of practice. Cleveland has also allowed 25 catches to tight ends in four games. If the Jets lean on two-tight end sets to cover the receiver shortage, he can get there. I still trust the role he had in September over the one he had last year.
