The read
Chicago's offense runs on the line, not the quarterback. Wright, Jackson, Bradbury and Thuney have played every snap this season and all practiced fully Friday. That group has the Bears leading the NFL in rushing and time of possession, with three different quarterbacks winning behind it. Now it faces a Green Bay run defense that allows nearly 140 rushing yards a game and just lost Edgerrin Cooper, its best linebacker, for the season. Kyle Monangai being out hurts, but D'Andre Swift has already had 124- and 84-yard games behind this same line.
The bigger mismatch is on third down. Green Bay converts about a quarter of its third downs, near the bottom of the league, and nearly two-thirds of them have been third-and-6 or longer thanks to penalties and drops. Chicago's defense allows under 24% and held its last three opponents to 17%, with Montez Sweat lined up across from a young right tackle. Green Bay also comes in with the league's worst ground game, no Josh Jacobs or Chris Brooks, fumble problems in the backfield, and an interior line that has changed almost every week.
Tyson Bagent is the risk: four interceptions last week, three of them wiped out by penalties, now on the road against a well-disguised Green Bay secondary. But Chicago's offense keeps Bagent in manageable downs and leans on the run. Bagent also went 7-for-9 on third downs last week. If the Bears control the clock the way they did against the Jets and Eagles, Jordan Love gets fewer chances to hit big plays, and Chicago wins this by more than a point.

QUARTERBACK
Caleb Williams is the projected starting quarterback for CHI
7.4 Y/AThrough 2 games in 2026, Caleb Williams threw for 407 passing yards, completed 65.5% of his passes and averaged 7.4 yards per attempt. Last season over 17 games he threw for 3942 yards, completed 58.1% and averaged 6.94 yards per attempt, 27-7 touchdowns to interceptions. Last season over 15 games he threw for 3381 yards, completed 66.3% and averaged 7.7 yards per attempt, 23-6 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 8-3 touchdown-to-interception line is 4 games in.
TRENCHES
CHI: 102.5 rushing yards allowed per game to GB's 139.3
36.8 YPGChicago gives up 102.5 rushing yards a game while Green Bay allows 139.3, both over four games. The sheet doesn't show opponents, and run defense numbers bend with game script: a team protecting a lead faces more carries. Four games can move fast. For this matchup, Green Bay's softer run defense is the side to think about if Chicago can stay close enough to keep handing the ball off.
PACE & SCRIPT
CHI: 36:36 time of possession per game to GB's 26:46
9:50 TOPChicago holds the ball for 36:36 per game over four games, way up from 30:59 last season, and Green Bay sits at 26:46 after 29:48 last year. A strong run game and good third downs let the Bears keep the clock moving. If that holds, it means fewer possessions for both teams and a slower game. Four games is a short sample, so the gap is likely to shrink some.
CHI: 16.3 points allowed per game to GB's 26.3
10 PPGCHI is at 16.3 points allowed per game over 4 games; GB is at 26.3 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 24.4 over 17 games and GB at 21.2 over 17 games.
CHI: 28 points per game to GB's 18.3
9.8 PPGCHI is at 28 points per game over 4 games; GB is at 18.3 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 25.9 over 17 games and GB at 23 over 17 games.
CHI: 74.5 offensive plays per game to GB's 58.8
15.8 PLAYSCHI is at 74.5 offensive plays per game over 4 games; GB is at 58.8 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 64.9 over 17 games and GB at 59.4 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
CHI: 1.5 takeaways per game to GB's 1
0.5 TOCHI is at 1.5 takeaways per game over 4 games; GB is at 1 over 4 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 10.
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS
CHI: 5.75 yards per play to GB's 5.15
0.6 Y/PChicago is right where it was last season at 5.71, so its edge comes from Green Bay slipping to 5.15 from 5.61 over 4 games. Chicago hit 6 plays of 20 or more yards last time with Tyson Bagent at quarterback, mixing Rome Odunze through the air with a 26-yard Kyle Monangai run. Green Bay's big plays last game came mostly on the ground through Kaleb Johnson and Chris Brooks, and with only 4 games logged, its number has room to climb back toward last season's mark.
RED ZONE
CHI: 55.6% red-zone scoring allowed to GB's 85.7%
30.2 PPCHI is at 55.6% red-zone scoring allowed over 4 games; GB is at 85.7% over 4 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 10.
MISMATCH
CHI: 196.3 rush yards a game to GB's 58
196.3 VS 58Chicago is running for 196.3 yards a game while Green Bay is at 58 over 4 games, a huge gap on the ground. Both numbers are extremes: Chicago ran for 144.5 last season and Green Bay for 119.8, so four games have stretched each one. Green Bay's run game should come back toward last year. If Chicago keeps grinding, it controls the clock and Green Bay gets fewer possessions, which favors a lower-scoring, slower game.
COVERAGE
CHI: 23.7% third downs allowed to GB's 48.2%
24.5 PPChicago has held opponents to 23.7% on third down across four games, and Green Bay allows 48.2%, so the Bears get off the field and the Packers do not. The sheet does not say which offenses either faced, so schedule may account for part of it. Rates this extreme tend to come back toward the middle. Green Bay at home still has the bigger issue to fix, which matters for drive length and the total.
GB: 4.97 yards per play allowed to CHI's 5.68
0.7 Y/PCHI is at 5.68 yards per play allowed over 4 games; GB is at 4.97 over 4 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 10.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
CHI lead the series with GB since 2025
2-1 SERIESAll three meetings were one-score games. Green Bay won the first at home 28-21, then Chicago won 22-16 on Dec 20 and 31-27 in the playoff game on Jan 10, both at Soldier Field. The Bears' two wins came at home, and this one is in Green Bay, where the Packers took the only meeting. Expect another tight game more than a blowout.
REPLACEMENT
Anthony Johnson Jr. (S) is out for CHI
OUTChicago will play at Green Bay without safety Anthony Johnson Jr., who was listed out on the injury report Oct 12. The report gives no injury or detail on when he last played, so how much his absence costs is hard to measure from this alone. Out means he will not suit up, so someone else on the back end takes his snaps, and that depth spot is the thing to check before betting Bears pass defense.
Caleb Williams (QB) is out for CHI
OUTWilliams is the Bears' starting quarterback, so this is the biggest absence on the board for Chicago. He is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Ben Johnson would not set a return date after Sunday's loss at Green Bay. Johnson said he is on track and it will be close whether he makes it back for Atlanta or after. A bettor should hold off on assuming he plays the Atlanta game until the team says more.
Savion Williams (WR) is ir-r for GB
IR-RWilliams is still out with his ankle and won't face the Bears on Sunday, though his designation means a return from injured reserve is in motion. Green Bay's receiver group goes without him again this week.
Chris Brooks (RB) is on injured reserve for GB
IRThe Packers placed running back Chris Brooks on injured reserve Saturday with an ankle injury, per an Oct 10 report. Brooks is out for Sunday's game against the Bears and at least the next few weeks. Green Bay's backfield depth thins out, so any Packers running back carry or yardage line should account for one fewer option behind the starter.
Micah Parsons (DE) is pup-r for GB
PUP-RMicah Parsons is on the return list from the physically unable to perform designation with a knee injury, and Matt LaFleur said on Oct 5 he would not practice this week. A player who is not practicing is not on track to suit up against Chicago, so expect Green Bay to play this one without him. Anything you like on the Packers' pass rush should be priced as if he is out.
Kyler Gordon (CB) is pup-r for CHI
PUP-RKyler Gordon is working back from the PUP list with a calf injury and has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Green Bay, per an Oct 10 report. The ruling means Chicago's return window for Gordon stays open, with no snaps against the Packers this week. The Bears take on Green Bay's passing game short a cornerback, which is the spot to watch for Packers receiver props.
Shemar Turner (DT) is pup-r for CHI
PUP-RTurner (knee) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against Green Bay. Reported Oct 10.
Jayden Reed (WR) is on injured reserve for GB
IRThe Packers are expected to place Reed (neck) on injured reserve Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reported Sep 30.
Edgerrin Cooper (LB) is on injured reserve for GB
IRCooper (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve by the Packers on Tuesday. Reported Oct 6.
Braxton Jones (OT) is on injured reserve for CHI
IRThe Bears placed Jones (knee) on injured reserve Saturday. Reported Oct 4.
Zach Bako-Bewele (OT) is on injured reserve for GB
IRThe Packers placed Bako-Bewele (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reported Sep 29.
Warren Brinson (DT) is on injured reserve for GB
IRGreen Bay placed Brinson (calf/groin) on injured reserve Saturday. Reported Oct 3.

SITUATIONAL
CHI: 47.4% third-down conversion rate to GB's 26.1%
21.3 PPChicago converts 47.4% on third down over four games, a bit up from 42.7% last season. Green Bay has fallen hard to 26.1% after 48.8% last year, which suggests the Packers' number is more likely to climb than stay put. Chicago's run game keeps third downs short, which helps explain its rate. Expect more Bears drives to stay alive, while the Packers' slump sits on a four-game sample.
CHI: 25.3 first downs per game to GB's 17
8.3 FDCHI is at 25.3 first downs per game over 4 games; GB is at 17 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 21.1 over 17 games and GB at 19.6 over 17 games.
CHI: 47.3 penalty yards per game to GB's 86
38.8 YDSCHI is at 47.3 penalty yards per game over 4 games; GB is at 86 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 57.1 over 17 games and GB at 48.1 over 17 games.
CHI (3-1) at GB (2-2), a division game
-79 PT GAPChicago has outscored teams by 47 and arrives on a two-game win streak, while Green Bay sits 32 points underwater at 2-2. The road and home splits are one game each: the Bears are 1-0 away and the Packers 0-1 at Lambeau, too thin to mean much. The point differentials say these teams are further apart than the records do. In a division game, weigh that margin over the one-game splits.
CHI: 6.83 yards per pass attempt to GB's 6.1
0.73 Y/ACHI is at 6.83 yards per pass attempt over 4 games; GB is at 6.1 over 4 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 10. Last season CHI was at 6.46 over 17 games and GB at 6.85 over 17 games.
TEAM RECORD
NFC NORTH game: CHI 0-1, GB 0-1 in the division
DIVISIONBoth Chicago and Green Bay lost their only division game so far. One game each is too little to read anything into. Division rivals meet twice a year and the games often play tighter than overall form suggests. The division records give no edge here, so look at the rest of each team's resume instead.

2- GARY'S PICKTUCKER KRAFTRECEIVING YARDS UNDER 48.5
I'm taking Tucker Kraft under 48.5 receiving yards at -115. This number sat at 39.5 a week ago, and a single six-catch, 42-yard game in Tampa pushed it up nine yards. Through four games this season Kraft has gone 42, 26, 15 and 65. He has cleared this line once. He is still the every-down tight end at 92 percent of the snaps last week, so the role is fine. The production is what hasn't come back after the knee surgery. He has dropped several passes, drawn a couple of flags, and said this week that he has been trying to do too much and taking his eyes off the ball.
The matchup points the same way. Chicago has allowed 139 yards to tight ends across four games with no touchdowns, and Dennis Allen's defense lives off getting teams into third and long. Green Bay already spends most of its third downs needing six yards or more. The bigger issue is volume. Chicago's offense has been holding the ball for long stretches, and over its last three games opponents ran 51, 47 and 32 plays. The Jets touched the ball for only about 17 minutes. If the Bears run the ball against a Green Bay run defense that just lost Edgerrin Cooper, Kraft gets fewer routes, and his targets get split with Christian Watson and Matthew Golden, who are the downfield options.
The strongest case against me: Jayden Reed and Savion Williams are both out, so the short middle of the field belongs to Kraft. Chicago's pressure looks are designed to make the ball come out early, and a tight end on a hot route is where it usually goes. Love also has the best career passer rating of any quarterback with real volume against Chicago, and Kraft averaged about 61 yards a game in eight games last year. One catch where he breaks a tackle and gets the yards after contact he keeps talking about would put this over by itself. I still think the price got ahead of the player.
- GARY'S PICKCOLSTON LOVELANDRECEIVING YARDS UNDER 38.5
I'm taking Colston Loveland under 38.5 receiving yards at -113. This line was 33.5 last week and 32.5 the week before. Loveland's nine-target, 57-yard game against the Jets pushed it up. Look at the full four games with this quarterback carousel: 57, 31, 3 and 0. That is one game over this number in a four-game sample. He plays nearly every snap, but Cole Kmet is out there for close to three quarters of the snaps too, so the tight end targets get shared.
The Bears are a run offense first. They ran 51 times against the Jets and closed that game with an 18-play drive that was almost all handoffs. Kyle Monangai is out, but D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson will carry the same plan against a Packers front that gives up close to 140 rushing yards a game. Green Bay has also been tough on tight ends, allowing 133 yards to the position across four games. Press Taylor talked this week about how well Green Bay's two safeties and nickel disguise and rotate coverage. That's the area over the middle where Tyson Bagent threw his only interception of record last week, on a ball meant for Loveland that came in late and behind him.
The case against me is real. Bagent clearly looks for Loveland, and nine targets last week shows the trust is there. Monangai being out could add a few more pass plays. Green Bay just lost Edgerrin Cooper, its best linebacker in coverage, and Isaiah McDuffie and Ty'Ron Hopper are stepping in on short notice. Loveland also went for 137 yards against this team in January and averaged near 60 a game last season. With a healthier quarterback I would respect that baseline more. With Bagent getting his second start and the coaching staff wanting to keep him in manageable downs, I expect the ball to go to the ground and to Rome Odunze outside more than to the seam.
