The read
I’m taking the points because Las Vegas can disrupt Kansas City without committing extra defenders to the rush. Through three games, the Raiders’ reported pressure rate is 36.3% with a 19.5% blitz rate. Against replacement left tackle Kahlil Benson, that gives them a credible way to interrupt Mahomes’ downfield game while retaining coverage. Benson already played the last two games; the edge here is this matchup, rather than a newly missing tackle.
Bowers’ return also matters more to my read than Las Vegas’ three-game offensive average. He played only the latest game, catching 10 passes for 116 yards. His involvement alongside Mayer gives Kubiak more ways to sustain possessions and keep this competitive without requiring another four-takeaway comeback.
The strongest counterargument is Walker: Kansas City’s productive running game and play-action can blunt that rush, and its offensive efficiency has been substantially better. Powers-Johnson’s OUT/FRESH designation, reported Oct. 2, also weakens Raiders protection. Those concerns keep my confidence modest. Still, I expect enough defensive disruption and receiving production to make a narrow Chiefs win a meaningful outcome. At +4.5, Las Vegas can lose by three or four and cash; that cushion makes it my preferred ticket.

QUARTERBACK
Patrick Mahomes is the projected starting quarterback for KC
8.29 Y/AThrough 3 games in 2026, Patrick Mahomes threw for 812 passing yards, completed 68.4% of his passes and averaged 8.29 yards per attempt. Last season over 14 games he threw for 3587 yards, completed 62.7% and averaged 7.14 yards per attempt, 22-11 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 7-2 touchdown-to-interception line is 3 games in.
Kirk Cousins is the projected starting quarterback for LV
7.18 Y/AThrough 3 games in 2026, Kirk Cousins threw for 661 passing yards, completed 67.4% of his passes and averaged 7.18 yards per attempt. Last season over 10 games he threw for 1721 yards, completed 61.7% and averaged 6.4 yards per attempt, 10-5 touchdowns to interceptions. This season's 9-3 touchdown-to-interception line is 3 games in.
TRENCHES
KC: 153.3 rushing yards per game to LV's 100
53.3 YPGKansas City is running for 153.3 a game over three games, way up from 106.6 last season, and Las Vegas has climbed from 77.5 to 100. A three-game jump that large for the Chiefs likely settles, but a balanced Kansas City is harder to defend. Both teams running more points toward a game that may move faster on the clock than last year's matchups.
KC: 4.83 yards per rush attempt to LV's 3.23
1.6 Y/CKansas City is getting 4.83 yards a carry, while the Raiders sit at 3.23 through three games. KC has gone up from 4.29 last season and Vegas is close to its 3.38, so the Raiders' number looks like who they are. If KC can lean on the run, it controls the pace and keeps Vegas off the field, which matters for rushing props and how long drives take.
PASS RUSH
LV: 3.33 sacks recorded per game to KC's 1.33
2 SACKSLas Vegas averages 3.33 sacks a game, and Kansas City averages 1.33. Over 3 games, the Raiders have generated steady pressure while the Chiefs have been quieter up front. Sack rates can swing with opponents faced, so neither figure is fixed yet. The pressure edge belongs to Las Vegas in this game, which matters for how comfortable each quarterback is going to be.
PACE & SCRIPT
KC: 32:07 time of possession per game to LV's 30:03
2:04 TOPKC is at 32:07 time of possession per game over 3 games; LV is at 30:03 over 3 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 3. Last season KC was at 30:09 over 17 games and LV at 28:03 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
LV: 3 takeaways per game to KC's 1.67
1.33 TOLas Vegas forces 3 takeaways a game, and Kansas City forces 1.67. Three takeaways a game over 3 games is a pace no defense holds, since turnovers come in bunches and depend on opponent mistakes. Expect that number to come down. If Kansas City keeps the ball safe, a big piece of Las Vegas's defensive edge goes away.
KC: 0.67 turnovers committed per game to LV's 1.33
0.67 TOKC is at 0.67 turnovers committed per game over 3 games; LV is at 1.33 over 3 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 3. Last season KC was at 0.88 over 17 games and LV at 1.35 over 17 games.
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS
KC: 6.47 yards per play to LV's 4.93
1.53 Y/PKansas City is at 6.47 yards a play through three games after 5.05 last season, and its last game had four plays of 20 or more, led by a 48-yard Mahomes throw to Travis Kelce. Las Vegas has improved too, from 4.35 to 4.93, with a 36-yard Mike Washington Jr. touchdown run in its last game. The Chiefs' jump is large for three games and may cool, but their explosive passing gives them the edge in big plays.
RED ZONE
KC: 57.1% red-zone scoring allowed to LV's 77.8%
20.6 PPKansas City allows opponents to score on 57.1% of red-zone trips, and Las Vegas allows 77.8%. Red-zone rates over three games rest on very few trips, so both are shaky. If it holds, the Chiefs turn more drives into touchdowns while the Raiders settle for field goals more often, which matters for the total and touchdown props.
MISMATCH
KC: 6.47 yards a snap to LV's 4.93
6.47 VS 4.93Kansas City averages 6.47 yards per play over three games, Las Vegas 4.93. Both are well above last season, 5.05 and 4.35, so some cooling is likely, but the gap between them matches last season. The Raiders need to shorten the game and limit the number of Chiefs drives.
COVERAGE
KC: 4.6 yards per play allowed to LV's 5.17
0.57 Y/PKC is at 4.6 yards per play allowed over 3 games; LV is at 5.17 over 3 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Oct 3.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
KC and LV are even since 2025
1-1 SERIESThese two split the last two seasons, and the games could not have looked more different. Kansas City rolled 31-0 at home on Oct 19, 2025, then lost 14-12 in Las Vegas on Jan 4 in a game where its offense never got going. That is a two-game sample with the home side winning both, so it says little about who has the edge now. The January result is a reminder that Las Vegas at home can drag Kansas City into a low-scoring fight, which is the spot to think about here.
REPLACEMENT
Tyquan Thornton (WR) is out for KC
OUTThornton dislocated his ankle in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Raiders and is out indefinitely, so this is a multi-week absence. A dislocation is a serious injury, and the indefinite label means there is no return date to plan around. The fact sheet does not say who takes his snaps, so watch how Kansas City spreads the receiver targets in its next game before betting any receiver props.
Jack Bech (WR) is on injured reserve for LV
IRBech went on injured reserve Tuesday, Sep 29, with a forearm injury, so he misses the Kansas City game. Las Vegas is also without Thornton at receiver, which thins the depth chart further. Look to the healthy Raiders wideouts to absorb the work.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. (WR) is on injured reserve for LV
IRThornton is on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, so he is out against Kansas City. Klint Kubiak said Friday the hope is he returns to practice before the Week 5 road game at New England, which points to that week at the earliest. For this game, the Raiders' receiver snaps go elsewhere.

SITUATIONAL
KC: 263 team passing yards per game to LV's 211.7
51.3 YPGKC is at 263 team passing yards per game over 3 games; LV is at 211.7 over 3 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 3. Last season KC was at 214.1 over 17 games and LV at 167.7 over 17 games.

KC: 2 fourth-down attempts per game to LV's 1
1 ATT/GKC is at 2 fourth-down attempts per game over 3 games; LV is at 1 over 3 games. Those are this season's games through Oct 3. Last season KC was at 1.88 over 17 games and LV at 1.88 over 17 games.
KC (3-0) at LV (3-0), a division game
-4 PT GAPBoth teams are 3-0 and both are winning by margin: Kansas City +38, Las Vegas +34. Each has played just one game in this spot, the Chiefs 1-0 away and the Raiders 1-0 at home. One unbeaten team leaves after this division game, so at least one streak ends. The margins are almost even, so a wide number either way is betting on reputation more than this season's form.
STREAK
KC has won 3 straight
W3Kansas City is 3-0 and walks into Las Vegas to face another 3-0 team. Three games is a small sample, and the sheet does not show who either side has beaten. When two unbeaten division teams meet, the records cancel out and the line comes down to matchups. Bet this on how the units line up, since the streaks tell you nothing about who wins here.
LV has won 3 straight
W3Las Vegas is 3-0, and hosting an unbeaten Kansas City is the first game that will show whether that start is real. Three games is a short sample, and the opponents are not on the sheet. The market usually trusts the established team over the surprise one in a spot like this. If Las Vegas is getting points at home while unbeaten, ask whether that reflects the teams or their reputations.
TEAM RECORD
AFC WEST game: KC 1-0, LV 1-0 in the division
DIVISIONBoth teams have one division game on the books and both won it, so this is the first real sort in the AFC West. One game is a thin sample, and the sheet does not show who either team beat. With both sides at 3-0 overall, price this off how each team has played in those wins, since the 1-0 division marks tell you very little on their own.

Props on this game
2- GARY'S PICKASHTON JEANTYRECEPTIONS OVER 3.5
I'm taking Jeanty over 3.5 receptions at +122, and the reason is how hard it has been for him to run. Through three games he has been met at or behind the line on a large share of his carries. Since the opener he has managed 48 and 56 rushing yards on 40 carries combined. Kansas City's front has lived in opposing backfields against the run. When the ground game stalls like that, Kubiak has to get his back the ball in space some other way, and screens and quick throws in the flat are the cleanest option.
The protection points the same direction. Jackson Powers-Johnson was ruled out Friday, so a backup guard draws Chris Jones inside. Cousins already gets the ball out fast, and with a weaker interior he has every reason to hit the outlet early. Jeanty still plays nearly every snap, 59 of 70 last week, so he's on the field for those calls. I have Las Vegas keeping this within a score, which keeps them throwing in the second half rather than sitting on the ball. His catches this season go six against Miami, four against the Chargers and three at New Orleans, and plus money asks for less than his early pace.
The strongest case against this is Brock Bowers. Bowers returned last week, drew 14 targets, and Jeanty fell to three. Mayer also takes short work, and Kansas City has allowed only 11 catches to running backs all season. Bowers has played exactly one game in this offense, so the new target split is a one-week read, and that's the uncertainty I'm accepting at this price.
- GARY'S PICKKENNETH WALKER IIIRECEPTIONS OVER 2.5
I'm taking Walker over 2.5 receptions at -154 because the Raiders' pass rush pushes Mahomes toward his back. Las Vegas gets heavy pressure while rushing only four, which leaves seven defenders dropping into coverage. Against that shell the deep and intermediate windows close, and the running back underneath becomes the release valve.
Kansas City has a tackle problem on that side too. Undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson is making a third straight start at left tackle for Josh Simmons, and he struggled on straight dropbacks the past two weeks. Mahomes was hit five times last week. Benson's starts are already priced, so my case rests on this specific pairing against Crosby, Koonce and Paye. Walker's role in the passing game is real. He has averaged six targets a game and drew ten against the Colts, the only game Kansas City trailed. He has caught three, six and two passes, and he is clearly the lead back by snap count.
The counterargument is game script and price. Walker caught only two passes on two targets at Miami, when Kansas City led and leaned on under-center play-action. If the Chiefs get ahead again, his touches come as carries. Emmett Johnson also takes some passing-down snaps, and Walker averaged a little over two catches a game last season in Seattle. This sample is three games, and -154 is a heavy price. I'm laying it because I have the Raiders keeping this close, and a close game keeps Mahomes dropping back into their rush.
