The read
I’m taking Arizona with the touchdown and a hook. My strongest reason is that San Francisco’s defensive performance came with a front that changes materially today: Nick Bosa and Romello Height, both OUT; FRESH — reported Sept. 25, played 68% and 54% of the defensive snaps against Miami. Losing both gives me reason to expect more manageable possessions for Brissett. That matters when Arizona can lose by seven and still cash.
Seattle thoroughly beat Arizona, but I wouldn’t price that offensive performance as Arizona’s settled level after two games. The Cardinals scored 26 at the Chargers the week before. My read is that they can recover enough offensive production against this depleted front to keep the margin within one score; they don’t need to match San Francisco’s impressive opening pace possession for possession.
The strongest argument against this ticket is Purdy against Arizona’s secondary: San Francisco has allowed zero sacks on 61 dropbacks, Will Johnson is on IR, and Max Melton remains questionable. McCaffrey and Kittle give the favorite additional ways to score. That keeps my confidence modest. Even after the move from 8.5 to 7.5, I prefer the remaining protection above seven because San Francisco’s new defensive absences make another comfortable separation less convincing than its first two results suggest.

PACE & SCRIPT
SF: 31 points per game to ARI's 16.5
14.5 PPGSan Francisco is scoring at a higher rate than last season through 2 games, while Arizona is below its own 20.9 points per game from last season. That creates a game script where Arizona may need to keep pace with an offense producing 31 points per game. The 2-game sample leaves room for both numbers to shift.
SF: 10 points allowed per game to ARI's 22.5
12.5 PPGARI is at 22.5 points allowed per game over 2 games; SF is at 10 over 2 games. Those are this season's games through Sep 26. Last season ARI was at 28.7 over 17 games and SF at 21.8 over 17 games.
ARI @ SF carries a 47.5 market total
47.5Four points above the slate median, this number puts ARI at SF in the upper part of the board for expected combined scoring. It is a smaller separation than the slate’s highest totals, so game-specific information can matter more when deciding whether the market has priced this scoring environment correctly.
TURNOVERS
ARI: 1.5 takeaways per game to SF's 1
0.5 TOArizona has created more takeaways than San Francisco through 2 games. The Cardinals have the stronger early disruption number, but 2 games is too small to assume that turnover edge will persist.
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS
SF: 6.85 yards per play to ARI's 4.35
2.5 Y/PSan Francisco's offense has created far more per snap through 2 games, while Arizona had no play of 20+ yards in its last game. Brock Purdy connected with George Kittle for 40-yard and 26-yard passes, and with Mike Evans for 27 yards. Arizona needs to limit chunk plays, though 2 games is too little to lock either offense into this profile.
RED ZONE
SF: 20% red-zone scoring allowed to ARI's 62.5%
42.5 PPSan Francisco has allowed red-zone scores on 20% of trips, compared with Arizona's 62.5%. Each defense has played 2 games, leaving very few goal-line possessions behind either rate. The early split favors San Francisco near the goal line, though red-zone scoring can swing sharply on a small set of drives.
MISMATCH
SF: 6.85 yards a snap to ARI's 4.35
6.85 VS 4.35The widest gap between these two is yards a snap: ARI averaged 4.35 yards a snap on offense over 2 games; SF averaged 6.85 yards a snap on offense over 2 games this season. Last season ARI was at 5.18 over 17 games and SF at 5.49 over 17 games.
COVERAGE
SF: 175 passing yards allowed per game to ARI's 203
28 YPGARI is at 203 passing yards allowed per game over 2 games; SF is at 175 over 2 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Sep 26.
SF: 5.1 yards per play allowed to ARI's 5.5
0.4 Y/PARI is at 5.5 yards per play allowed over 2 games; SF is at 5.1 over 2 games. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Sep 26.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
SF lead the series with ARI since 2025
2-0 SERIESSan Francisco won both meetings last season, but they looked nothing alike. The Sep 21 game at SF was a coin flip, a 16-15 finish, while the Nov 16 rematch in Arizona turned into a 41-22 rout. Two games is a thin series, and one of them came down to a single point, so the sweep says less about a gap than the Arizona blowout suggests. For this one at SF, the close home result is as fair a reference point as the lopsided road win.
REPLACEMENT
Brandon Aiyuk (WR) is reserve-dnr for SF
RESERVE-DNRAiyuk is on reserve/did-not-report, and Kyle Shanahan does not view him as an option while San Francisco deals with multiple receiver injuries. He is out of the 49ers' receiver plans against Arizona. The report identifies a thin unit, though it does not name who absorbs his work.
Demarcus Robinson (WR) is on injured reserve for SF
IRRobinson is on injured reserve with an ankle injury after San Francisco placed him there Saturday. He is unavailable against Arizona, adding to the 49ers' receiver issues alongside Aiyuk's absence from the team's plans. The report does not identify the receiver who takes Robinson's work.
De'Zhaun Stribling (WR) is on injured reserve for SF
IRStribling is on injured reserve with an ankle injury after San Francisco placed him there Saturday. He is unavailable against Arizona, taking a 49ers wide receiver out of the active lineup.
Will Johnson (CB) is on injured reserve for ARI

SITUATIONAL
ARI (1-1) at SF (2-0), a division game
+54 PT GAPSan Francisco has won both games and is +42 on the year, while Arizona sits at 1-1 but has been outscored by 12. That is two games each, and the sheet does not say who either team played, so part of the gap may be schedule. Arizona won its only road game and San Francisco is 1-0 at home, which says little yet. In a division game between teams that know each other, lean less on two weeks of margin when sizing up a big spread.
TEAM RECORD
NFC WEST game: ARI 0-1, SF 1-0 in the division
DIVISIONSan Francisco has the early division edge, while Arizona already has a loss inside the NFC West. This is one game for each team, so it says more about who started clean than who controls the division. Division results matter most in a matchup like this because a second Arizona loss would deepen the gap fast.

Props on this game
2- GARY'S PICKMICHAEL WILSONRECEIVING YARDS OVER 44.5
I’m taking Wilson over 44.5 receiving yards at -113. He has drawn seven targets in each of Arizona’s two games, and his 56 yards against the Chargers show what that workload can produce.
With Nick Bosa and Romello Height out, I expect Brissett to have more chances to find Wilson than he had during last week’s stalled offense. The strongest concern is San Francisco’s pass defense: it has allowed only 182.5 passing yards per game through two games, while Wilson managed 18 yards against Seattle.
McBride also remains Brissett’s leading target.
- GARY'S PICKMIKE EVANSRECEIVING YARDS UNDER 55.5
I’m taking Evans under 55.5 receiving yards at -113. His role has produced ten targets and 49 and 54 yards across San Francisco’s two games.
He intends to play through a hip issue, but I’m reluctant to price in a larger workload today. Purdy has other established options in McCaffrey, Kittle and Deebo Samuel.
The strongest case against me is Arizona’s secondary: Will Johnson is on injured reserve, Max Melton is questionable, and opposing wide receivers have gained 329 yards in two games. Purdy’s sharp start gives Evans a clear path to beat this line with a few substantial catches.
