Memphis Grizzlies at Indiana Pacers

As the calendar turns to March at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, we get a matchup between two lottery-bound squads in the Memphis Grizzlies and the Indiana Pacers. With the spread sitting essentially at a pick'em, the data points heavily toward the team that is actually executing on both ends of the floor right now. Indiana has been in a complete freefall over their five-game losing streak, dealing with a historic defensive collapse that makes them impossible to trust in this spot.

The primary issue for the Pacers is a defensive unit that has simply stopped functioning. They proved their capability just two nights ago by dismantling the Mavericks on the road in a wire-to-wire 19-point victory. Memphis is getting significant production from their youth, with GG Jackson stepping into a primary scoring role and averaging over 20 points across his last six games to pace the offense.

Both of these teams play at a top-ten pace, averaging right around 102 possessions per game. In a high-possession track meet, the team that can generate just a few key defensive stops holds the ultimate advantage. Right now, Memphis is fielding a functional defense while Indiana is bleeding points on every trip down the floor. The Grizzlies already blew this team out by 25 points earlier this year, and given Indiana's current inability to protect the paint or get stops in the half-court, Memphis has the clear edge to go on the road and win this game outright.
