Gary's Take This matchup is a nightmare for an Indiana Pacers team that is currently a shell of its former self. While Pascal Siakam has been heroic lately, averaging 27 points over his last five games, he is essentially flying solo in Indianapolis. With Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Obi Toppin all sidelined, the Pacers' offense has plummeted to 28th in the league. They lack the secondary playmaking necessary to break down elite defenses, and tonight they face a Miami Heat unit that ranks 4th in defensive efficiency.
The defensive matchup specifically favors Miami because of Bam Adebayo. There are very few players in the league with the lateral quickness and strength to mirror Siakam's versatile game, but Bam is one of them. If Miami can neutralize Siakam's isolation scoring, Indiana has nowhere else to turn. Rookie Johnny Furphy and Jay Huff are being asked to play roles they aren't ready for against a veteran Heat rotation that recently added Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins to their wing corps.
Norman Powell has been a revelation for Miami, leading the team with 24.3 PPG and providing the consistent perimeter scoring they lacked early in the season. With Tyler Herro also back in the fold and finding his rhythm, the Heat simply have too many weapons for Indiana's thin backcourt to track. Indiana's 5-15 home record suggests there is no real home-court advantage to speak of here, and Miami already proved they could dismantle this group with a 26-point blowout win just two weeks ago.
Miami might show a little rust early after having their Thursday game postponed, but their talent advantage and defensive structure will eventually overwhelm the Pacers. Laying 6.5 points feels light for a team that is statistically nearly ten points better per 100 possessions. Miami Heat -6.5.
Injuries noted
Miami Heat: Terry Rozier (Out) — Rozier was arrested Thursday morning as part of an FBI sports betting gambling probe, and the NBA is acting quickly while this investigation gets underway. As of now, there is no known timetable for a potential return for Rozier, as this could be a lengthy process.; Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Questionable) — Jaquez was slated to return from a two-game absence due to a wrist injury before Thursday's game against the Bulls was postponed. Now, he's back on the injury report Saturday due to a stomach bug. If he can't play, Pelle Larsson and Simone Fontecchio could see a bump in minutes.
Indiana Pacers: Isaiah Jackson (Out) — Jackson's absence is extending to 10 games Saturday. Until he passes each step of the league's concussion protocol, Jay Huff should see the lion's share of the center minutes while Micah Potter and Tony Bradley compete for the backup role.; Bennedict Mathurin (Out) — Pacers reporter Dustin Dopirak noted that when Carlisle uses the "a while" timetable, it typically means the player will spend at least a week on the sidelines, and potentially multiple weeks. Therefore, it doesn't sound like Mathurin will be available during Week 12. Aaron Nesmith, Johnny Furphy and Ben Sheppard will all help fill the void while Mathurin is out.; Obi Toppin (Out) — Toppin will likely miss a considerable amount of time following this surgery. Head coach Rick Carlisle told the media not to ask about Toppin's status until Feb. 1. The team will likely turn to Jay Huff, Jarace Walker and Tony Bradley to help shoulder the load in the frontcourt.; Tyrese Haliburton (Out For Season) — Haliburton tore his right Achilles in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on June 22 and underwent surgery the following day. Any hope of a return during the 2025-26 campaign was shut down Monday, when Pacers president Kevin Pritchard stated plainly, "He will not play next year though. We would not jeopardize that now. So don't get any hopes up that he will play." Haliburton has cemented himself as the face of the franchise and played a key role in Indiana's run to the NBA Finals during the 2024-25 playoffs, averaging 17.3 points, 8.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 33.5 minutes across 23 postseason games. During the 2024-25 regular season, the 2020 first-round pick averaged 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 73 appearances.; Andrew Nembhard (Questionable) — Nembhard is in jeopardy of missing his second consecutive game due to lower-back soreness. If the 25-year-old point guard isn't cleared to suit up, T.J. McConnell, Quenton Jackson and Ben Sheppard are candidates for an uptick in minutes.

Props on this game
5Tyler HerroOVER 20.5 Points Points-136
WActual 21
Look, Tyler Herro is coming into this one with the freshest legs in the league after that Chicago game got postponed, giving him four full days to get that toe right. With Terry Rozier officially out of the picture tonight, the keys to the Heat's perimeter offense are being handed directly to Herro, and he’s never been shy about hunting his shot.
Indiana’s defense is about as sturdy as a wet paper bag right now, giving up nearly 120 points a night, and they don’t have anyone on the wing who can keep up with Herro coming off those high screens. I expect him to blow past this 20.5 line before the fourth quarter even starts, especially since he's already averaging over 22 on the season.
This is a classic 'get right' spot for a guy who’s ready to remind everyone why he’s an All-Star caliber scorer.
Bam AdebayoOVER 9.5 Rebounds Rebounds-138
LActual 9
Bam Adebayo is going to have a field day on the glass against an Indiana frontcourt that is currently missing its identity and its size. With Myles Turner gone and Isaiah Jackson in concussion protocol, the Pacers are relying on Jay Huff to protect the paint, and that’s a matchup Bam wins ten times out of ten.
Bam has grabbed double-digit boards in three of his last five games, and he’s going to be the most athletic player on the floor by a wide margin tonight. Miami is coming in well-rested and looking to dominate the physical side of the game after that embarrassing loss to Minnesota.
I see Bam camping out in the paint and cleaning up everything Indiana throws up, easily clearing this 9.5 line.
Pascal SiakamOVER 25.5 Points Points-117
LActual 11
Pascal Siakam is essentially the last man standing in Indiana with Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin both sidelined, and he's playing like a man possessed to keep this team afloat. He’s cleared this 25.5 mark in three of his last five games, including a 30-piece just two nights ago, and his usage rate is going to be through the roof tonight.
Miami’s defense is usually tough, but they’ve shown some cracks lately, and they don't have a physical match for Siakam’s length and speed at the four. Rick Carlisle is going to run everything through Pascal tonight, and with the Pacers desperate to build on that Charlotte win, Siakam is going to have the greenest of green lights.
I'm betting on the volume alone here—he's going to get the touches he needs to hit the high 20s.
Norman PowellOVER 21.5 Points Points-113
LActual 6
Norman Powell has been an absolute revelation since joining the Heat, and the books still haven't quite adjusted to his role as a primary scoring option in this system. He’s averaging over 24 points a game this season, yet we're getting a line at 21.5 against an Indiana team that has essentially stopped playing defense during their recent skid.
Powell thrives in the kind of high-pace, transition-heavy game that the Pacers love to play, and with Rozier out, there are even more shots to go around in the Miami backcourt. He’s a professional bucket-getter who can score from all three levels, and Indiana doesn't have the perimeter defenders to keep him from getting to his spots.
This is a value play on a guy who is consistently outperforming this number.
Aaron NesmithUNDER 16.5 Points Points-110
WActual 12
I’m fading Aaron Nesmith tonight because this 16.5 line feels like it's chasing that one 25-point outlier he had against the Knicks a week ago. If you look at his body of work, he’s stayed under this number in four of his last five games and is only averaging 14.8 on the season.
While the Pacers are thin on bodies, Nesmith is more of a 3-and-D specialist who relies on others to create for him, and without Haliburton setting the table, those easy looks are going to be much harder to come by. Miami is going to throw elite wing defenders like Andrew Wiggins at him, which should keep him in check all night.
I expect Nesmith to put up a solid effort, but 17 points is a tall task for a guy who is fundamentally a secondary scoring option.
