Dallas Mavericks Houston Rockets Record 12-23 → 21-10 Off Rating 106.3 → 119.2 Def Rating 110.6 ← 111.6 Net Rating -4.3 → +7.6 OREB Rate 23.6% → 36.6% Key Injuries Lively, Irving Adams (Q)
Gary's Take We have a classic case of two teams moving in opposite directions. The Houston Rockets have evolved into a legitimate Western Conference power, boasting a +7.6 Net Rating and an offense that is humming at an elite 119.2 efficiency. Conversely, the Dallas Mavericks are in a freefall, having lost four straight games while struggling to find consistent offense (106.3 rating) without a true perimeter creator to complement Anthony Davis.
The decisive factor in this matchup is going to be on the glass. Houston is the NBA's premier offensive rebounding team, grabbing 36.6% of their misses. Dallas is a mediocre rebounding team that is severely undersized without Dereck Lively II. This means Alperen Sengun and Tari Eason should feast on second-chance points, demoralizing a Dallas defense that is already surrendering 117+ points per game during their recent skid.
While laying 8.5 points on the road is typically a "trap" spot, the discrepancy in firepower here is simply too large to ignore. Dallas does not have the offensive ceiling to keep pace with a Rockets team that has scored 117, 126, and 120 in their last three wins. Kevin Durant and Sengun are clicking, and they will want to make a statement after splitting the season series earlier. I expect Houston to control the pace and pull away in the second half.

2Cooper FlaggOVER 4.5 Assists Assists+108
WActual 6
I’ve been watching the tape on this kid Flagg, and the books haven't caught up to his growth as a playmaker yet. With Luka and Kyrie out of the picture, Cooper isn't just a scorer; he’s the guy bringing the ball up and initiating the sets.
He’s notched at least five dimes in five straight games, and Kidd is practically begging him to keep the ball in his hands. Against a Rockets team that likes to push the pace, there are going to be plenty of transition opportunities for Flagg to find his shooters.
4.5 assists is a gift for a guy who’s been living in the 6-to-9 range lately.
Anthony DavisOVER 21.5 Points Points-121

Listen, AD is finally off the leash. Coach Kidd came out and said 'no more limits' tonight, and you better believe the Mavericks are going to feed the big man early and often.
He already proved he can school Sengun, dropping 29 on him back in December on nearly 74% shooting. With no Luka and no Kyrie, Davis is the undisputed focal point of this offense, and he’s fresh after a two-day rest.
I expect him to live at the free-throw line and dominate the paint against a Rockets interior that hasn't seen this version of Davis yet.
