Gary's Take This matchup comes down to a fundamental structural mismatch in the paint. The Atlanta Hawks are currently in freefall, having lost seven straight games, and their 5-11 home record suggests State Farm Arena offers zero advantage. But the real nightmare for Atlanta is the rebounding battle. Minnesota boasts an elite Offensive Rebound Rate (25.2%) powered by the size of Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, and Naz Reid. Without Kristaps Porzingis (and with Clint Capela gone), Atlanta is forced to rely on an undersized Onyeka Okongwu to hold the fort.
Even if Trae Young and Jalen Johnson return to the lineup, they can't fix a defense that is allowing 115.3 points per 100 possessions. Minnesota has stabilized after a rough patch, dropping 136 points in their last outing, and Anthony Edwards should have a field day attacking a Hawks perimeter defense that has been a turnstile all season. When Atlanta loses, they tend to lose big because their defense can't generate stops to halt runs. I'm backing the superior defense and the massive size advantage to cover this number comfortably.

2Nickeil Alexander-WalkerOVER 17.5 Points Points-105
LActual 11
I’m looking at this Nickeil Alexander-Walker revenge game and the math just doesn't add up for the books. They've got him at 17.5 points, but the kid has been a primary scoring engine for Atlanta, averaging 20.6 on the season.
He's coming off back-to-back performances of 25 and 30 points, and you know he's got this date circled on the calendar against his old squad. With Trae Young banged up and the Hawks desperate to snap a seven-game slide, NAW is going to have the ultimate green light.
He knows the Minnesota defensive rotations better than anyone, and in a high-paced game with a 243.5 total, he’s going to clear this line before the fourth quarter even starts. The motivation is there, the volume is there, and the hot hand is definitely there.
Onyeka OkongwuOVER 14.5 Points Points-109
WActual 17
Onyeka Okongwu is playing the best basketball of his career right now, and the market is still treating him like a backup. Over his last two outings, this man has exploded for 31 and 26 points, looking completely unstoppable in the paint.
Even with Kristaps Porzingis returning today, you have to expect KP to be on a major conditioning leash after missing 11 straight games. Okongwu has earned the trust of the coaching staff, clocking over 36 minutes a night recently, and his activity level is exactly what's needed against a big Minnesota frontline.
Atlanta is playing at a breakneck pace, and Okongwu is thriving as a rim-runner and finisher. 14.5 is a floor he’s been walking over lately, and I expect him to keep that double-digit streak alive against a Wolves team that can struggle with athletic bigs.
