Gary's Take I love this spot for Oklahoma City because the overall gap between these teams is massive over 48 minutes (net rating 19.7 vs 2.8). The Thunder pair elite offense with top-tier defense (offensive rating 122.3, defensive rating 102.6), and they’ve turned that into a perfect home profile (12-0 at home, 24-1 overall). San Antonio is a good team, but their efficiency numbers are closer to solid than dominant (offensive rating 117.9, defensive rating 115.1), and that shows up when they step up in class.

With Victor Wembanyama out per the injury report, the Spurs have to lean even more on their perimeter scorers like Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes (15.4 and 13.5 PPG, 39.4% and 43.4% from three). They do shoot it well as a group (about 60.6% effective field goal and 38.8% from three), but Oklahoma City basically matches that shooting while defending at a far higher level. Even though both teams protect the ball and crash the glass reasonably well (turnover rates around 11% and offensive rebounding in the low-to-mid 20s), that huge defensive edge for OKC means each trip down the floor is tilted toward the home side.

Here’s how I see it playing out: Chet Holmgren’s inside-out game keeps the Thunder offense humming (18.8 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 39.5% from three), Aaron Wiggins adds efficient scoring on the wing (13.2 PPG, 43.8% from three), and over four quarters that two-way dominance at home wears down a Spurs team that is good but not great on the road (8-5 away). Only way this misses is if San Antonio stays red hot from deep all night (around their 38.8% average) and OKC completely takes the air out late, but I expect the Thunder’s efficiency edge to show up in a double-digit win.
