With Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both out, Boston loses its primary shot creation and a big chunk of its defensive versatility (Offensive Rating, Defensive Rating), forcing Derrick White, Anfernee Simons, and Chris Boucher to shoulder far more than their usual load. Washington is ugly in the standings, but their shooting and tempo profile is far better than a typical 3–17 team (Shooting, Pace). They play fast, create a lot of possessions, and at home we’ve already seen them knock off quality opponents like Milwaukee and Atlanta when the offense gets loose (Recent Form). That high pace creates variance, and variance is the underdog’s best friend against a shorthanded favorite. Here’s how I see this playing out: Boston’s overall quality still shows, but without Brown and Tatum they’re grinding more than front-running, and Washington’s efficient scoring keeps them inside the number deep into the fourth. Celtics can absolutely win this, but asking a depleted roster to win by double digits on the road is rich. Lock this in: Washington Wizards +10 -106.
