I’m attacking Williamson’s control in his first major-league start since April 29. He issued 20 walks in 28 innings and reached at least three in four of his six starts, including each of his final four before the layoff.
San Diego gives him a right-handed-heavy lineup with several patient hitters, and the heat at Great American Ball Park leaves little margin for pitching around traffic. An early hook is the risk, but three walks can come quickly with this profile. The plus-money price makes that risk worth taking.

His August ERA is 6.26, and the hot conditions with the wind blowing toward left field favor Stewart’s power. One productive trip through the heart of the order can cash this.
