The read
I’m backing Baltimore because its starting-pitching and bullpen advantages outweigh the price. Tomoyuki Sugano has allowed 17 earned runs in 12.0 innings across his last three starts. Left-handed hitters have produced a .280 average and .923 OPS against him with 20 home runs, and Baltimore starts five left-handed hitters. Tonight’s nine have also hit 20 home runs over the last 15 days. That is a dangerous combination at Coors Field in 85°F weather.
Trevor Rogers carries some risk because right-handed hitters have produced a .276 average and .779 OPS against him, and Colorado constructed its lineup accordingly. Still, Rogers allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his previous five starts and has the better season contact profile, including a 7.2% barrel rate allowed compared with Sugano’s 12.7%.
The bullpen separates the teams further. Baltimore’s relief corps has a 1.20 ERA over the last 10 days, compared with Colorado’s 3.38. Andrew Kittredge, Rico Garcia and Yennier Cano did not pitch yesterday, while Colorado used five relievers and both Jordan Romano and Brennan Bernardino worked for a second consecutive day. I’m laying the price with the club possessing the better path through both the opening innings and the late game.

I’m buying Rogers’ recent strikeout level at plus money. He has recorded at least six strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts, while Colorado’s lineup contains plenty of swing-and-miss beyond the contact-oriented McCarthy and Rumfield. Rogers can attack with a four-seamer carrying a 24.7% whiff rate and a sweeper at 26.9%. He has also completed six innings in six of those eight starts, giving him enough runway to reach this number even if Coors produces some damage.
Ryan RitterUNDER 1.5 H+R+RBI H+R+RBI-135

Ritter has stayed under this number in 12 of his last 14 games, and his .176/.222/.176 season line shows neither consistent on-base production nor extra-base impact. Batting eighth also limits his plate appearances and leaves him dependent on the bottom of Colorado’s order to turn a hit into an additional run or RBI. Rogers has been more vulnerable to right-handed hitters, but Ritter still needs multiple counting events to beat this line. At this price, I’ll take the under against a hitter averaging only 0.6 combined hits, runs and RBIs per game.
