The read

Monday night at Target Field brings two struggling division rivals and a narrow price. I’m backing Minnesota because its advantages are concentrated in the parts of this matchup I trust most.

Taj Bradley offers the more established starting-pitcher baseline: a 3.97 ERA over 147.1 innings, including a 3.51 ERA at home. Jackson Jobe owns a similar 3.93 ERA, but it covers only 18.1 innings across four starts. His 1.42 WHIP and short outings leave considerably more of this game to Detroit’s relief corps.

Minnesota also has the better offensive profile against right-handed pitching, batting .250 with a .738 OPS compared with Detroit’s .242 and .723. That matters against a Tigers offense producing only 1.6 runs per game over its last five and 2.2 over its last ten.

The immediate bullpen situation strengthens the home side’s case. Minnesota used only Jeff Hoffman for 0.2 innings Sunday, while Detroit used Tyler Kinley, Tanner Rainey, Kyle Finnegan and Jacob Waguespack. Minnesota also leads the season series 7-2 and is 5-0 against Detroit at Target Field.

Bradley’s 5.74 ERA over his last three starts and Detroit’s superior season-long pitching numbers keep this from being a high-confidence play. At this modest price, however, Minnesota’s more established starter, stronger right-handed-pitching split and cleaner relief setup are enough for the moneyline.
