The read

Great American Ball Park brings the heat and home-run volatility, but San Diego arrives with the more dependable run-prevention path.

Michael King is the foundation of the bet. He carries a 3.23 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, has a 2.29 ERA across his last three starts, and has completed four consecutive quality starts. Brady Singer enters with a 4.72 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, including a 5.09 ERA over his last three.

The matchup reinforces that advantage. Singer has allowed left-handed hitters a .303 average and .864 OPS with 19 home runs; San Diego starts four left-handed batters. King has shown almost no platoon gap, holding lefties to a .650 OPS and righties to a .651 OPS. San Diego also owns the better offensive split against right-handed pitching, .235/.706 compared with Cincinnati’s .224/.692.

The late innings provide the other decisive separation. San Diego’s current bullpen owns a 2.34 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, while Cincinnati’s is at 4.10 and 1.30. Over the last ten days, those ERAs are 2.10 and 7.22. San Diego has recent workload concerns among several relievers, but the full performance gap remains substantial.

I’m using the moneyline because the handicap is built around San Diego’s superior path through nine innings, not an expectation of a particular winning margin.
