The read
Coors Field raises the volatility for both lineups, and neither starter comes without risk. The better ticket is Baltimore to win by any margin, leaning on the stronger full-game pitching profile rather than laying 1.5 runs.
Tanner Gordon’s latest start was excellent, but his location split is difficult to overlook: a 9.33 ERA over 18.1 innings in four home starts, compared with a 1.59 ERA over 17.0 innings in three road starts. He has also allowed a .900 OPS to left-handed hitters and an .856 OPS to right-handed hitters. Baltimore’s confirmed lineup can challenge him from both sides, with Pete Alonso carrying a .901 OPS against right-handed pitching and a 1.050 OPS in August.
Cade Povich presents genuine downside of his own. He has a 9.90 road ERA over 10.0 innings, only five starts this season and a 21-day gap since his last one. That uncertainty is why the Orioles run line asks too much.
The separation comes behind the starters. Baltimore’s current bullpen owns a 3.79 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, compared with Colorado’s 4.56 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. The Orioles also have the stronger overall pitching baseline, with a 4.19 team ERA against Colorado’s 5.49. At a manageable -118, the moneyline captures Baltimore’s advantages while respecting Povich’s uncertainty and the one-run volatility of Coors.

I’m fading Gordon’s seven-inning gem in Washington now that he is back at Coors. He has allowed 19 earned runs over 18.1 innings in four home starts, surrendering at least four in every one of them. Baltimore arrives averaging 5.3 runs across its last 10 games and can send five left-handed bats at a pitcher who has allowed a .900 OPS to lefties. Four earned runs is a fair target, and getting plus money makes the over worth taking.

Alexander has recorded a single in 11 of his last 15 games and in both starts since returning from the injured list. He owns a .331 average and .873 OPS against right-handed pitching, while Gordon has allowed right-handed hitters to bat .319. Gordon has also surrendered high batting averages on his four-seamer, slider and sinker. With Coors’ spacious outfield creating room for balls to fall, one single is a reasonable ask even from the seventh spot.
