The read
Roof closed in Arlington, two starters carrying very different home-road stories, and both clubs arriving after their bullpens covered multiple innings Sunday. I’m taking the run with Oakland rather than asking the underdog to win outright.
Gage Jump’s 4.69 season ERA is a concern, but his 3.49 ERA across seven road starts is the more relevant split tonight. He also enters after allowing two earned runs with nine strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Jacob deGrom’s 2.67 home ERA is the counterweight—and why this is not an Athletics moneyline play—but his recent volatility matters when laying 1.5 runs: a 7.71 ERA over his last three starts, including eight earned runs in 3.2 innings last time out.
The late innings do not create a clear Texas advantage. The current bullpens have nearly identical season ERAs—4.24 for Oakland and 4.20 for Texas—while their last-10-day marks favor the Athletics, 3.13 to 5.18. Texas also needed six relief innings Sunday, and Jakob Junis worked on consecutive days.
Oakland has produced a .720 OPS and 4.4 runs per game this season, compared with Texas at .713 and 4.0. Texas has the stronger overall pitching and defensive profile, but the combination of Jump’s road results, deGrom’s recent inconsistency and the bullpen comparison makes the extra run the right side of this ticket.

I’m playing deGrom’s recent workload at plus money. He has completed six innings just once in his last eight starts, with five of his last six ending before the sixth was finished. Oakland has several hitters near the top of the order taking competitive at-bats, which can elevate his pitch count even without producing many runs. DeGrom can pitch well and still cash this Under; asking him for a full six innings is too much at this price.
Henry BolteOVER 0.5 Singles Singles-104

Bolte’s leadoff assignment gives him the plate-appearance volume I want at essentially even money. He has recorded a single in 10 of his last 15 games and is batting .321 in August. DeGrom has allowed a .261 average to right-handed hitters, and Bolte’s modest power profile makes the single more attractive than paying -170 for any hit. The slider is the obvious obstacle, but the price does not properly reflect Bolte’s recent contact or lineup position.

Burger’s power against left-handed pitching makes +413 worth taking. He has nine home runs in 118 at-bats against lefties this season, carries an .881 OPS in that split and has homered in four of his last 15 games.
He also took Jump deep when these clubs met on August 14. Jump uses his four-seam fastball nearly half the time, and that pitch has allowed a .287 average with a .340 xwOBA.
Burger only needs one mistake for this price to pay.
