The read
This game reads much closer to a coin flip than the price suggests, so I’m taking Seattle at plus money. Bryan Woo has a 1.96 ERA at T-Mobile Park, where the Mariners are 8-2 in his starts. Jesús Luzardo counters with a 1.95 road ERA, and Philadelphia is 11-2 in those starts. However, Seattle’s six right-handed hitters and two switch-hitters face the side against which Luzardo has allowed a .735 OPS. Woo has held left-handed hitters to a .676 OPS, relevant against Philadelphia’s six left-handed bats.
Philadelphia’s bullpen is the concern: it owns a 3.47 ERA and a 2.18 ERA over the last seven games, compared with Seattle’s 4.01 and 5.88 marks. Woo’s return from shoulder soreness also keeps this from being a high-confidence play, although he was cleared after his bullpen session. Still, Seattle has already won this series’ first two games 9-2 and 4-1, Woo’s home performance is established, and the lineup construction gives the Mariners a measurable route against Luzardo. At +116, I’ll trust Seattle to finish the sweep.

I’m taking the plus money on Luzardo to record at least one out in the seventh. He has cleared this number in five of his last six starts, owns a 1.95 road ERA and has allowed five earned runs with 30 strikeouts over his last 19.1 innings.
Seattle has managed a .217 average and .642 OPS against left-handed starters, and Naylor, Young and Canzone are all out of today’s lineup. Luzardo’s dominant sweeper gives him a reliable way through this right-handed order.
The 110 pitches in his previous start add some risk, but +155 is too generous for the form and matchup.
Randy ArozarenaOVER 0.5 Hits Hits-147
Not yet graded
I’m backing Arozarena to break through with one hit. He owns a .288 average and .852 OPS against left-handed pitching, hits second, and has recorded a hit in nine of his last 15 games.
His recent results also include six hard-hit balls and two barrels on 18 balls in play. Luzardo has been much more hittable by right-handed batters, allowing them a .253 average and .735 OPS, than by lefties.
Arozarena should get four opportunities, which makes -147 playable despite Luzardo’s current form.
