The read
Minnesota has the cleaner path, but I want the moneyline rather than demanding a two-run victory. Taj Bradley carries a 3.90 ERA and 1.28 WHIP, compared with Gage Jump’s 4.83 and 1.51. Their recent results are closer—Bradley has a 5.79 ERA over his last three starts and Jump is at 5.87—but Bradley responded with five innings of one-run ball in his latest appearance.
The decisive matchup is Minnesota’s lineup against the left-handed Jump. He has allowed right-handed hitters a .274 average and .808 OPS, and the Twins are starting six right-handed batters and two switch-hitters. Bradley has allowed a .690 OPS to left-handed hitters and .668 to right-handed hitters, leaving Oakland without the same obvious platoon opening.
The Twins also own the stronger season-long bullpen numbers, 4.00 ERA and 1.37 WHIP against Oakland’s 4.49 and 1.48. Their recent relief work has been shaky, however, and this is a hitter-friendly park. That volatility is why I’m laying -144 on Minnesota simply to win rather than taking the plus price on the run line.
