The read

I’m laying the moneyline without asking Boston to cover a margin. Miami’s best counterargument is Tyler Phillips’ 2.83 ERA across eight home starts, but Payton Tolle brings the stronger complete profile: a 3.08 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, a 1.89 ERA over his last three starts, and a 2.52 road ERA. Phillips has a 3.67 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, with a 4.40 ERA over his last three starts.

The matchup also fits Tolle. Miami is starting seven right-handed hitters, and righties have managed a .201 average and .601 OPS against him. Boston has a .719 OPS against right-handed pitching, while Miami has a .704 OPS against lefties.

The separation grows after the starters. Boston’s bullpen owns a 2.86 ERA and a 1.57 ERA over its last seven games; Miami’s corresponding marks are 3.88 and 5.00. Pete Fairbanks’ fresh placement on the injured list further unsettles the Marlins’ late-inning structure. Phillips’ home work gives me enough respect for Miami to pass on Boston -1.5, but the starter, handedness and bullpen advantages collectively make Boston winning outright at -142 the ticket that matches my read.
