Saturday night at Rate Field, Chicago tries to carry Friday’s walk-off energy while New York sends Christian Scott to stop it. The wind is out to center, and this has the feel of a game where one mistake can swing the night. I’m taking Mets ML +102 because the cleanest measurable edge belongs to Scott, and this ticket asks New York only to win outright.

Scott enters with a 3.51 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 105 strikeouts in 84.2 innings; Luis Castillo has a 4.99 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 102 strikeouts in 115.1 innings. The contact profiles reinforce that difference: Scott has allowed a 6.8% barrel rate and 34.7% hard-hit rate, compared with Castillo’s 9.9% and 41.8%. Scott’s 5.87 ERA over his last three starts, versus Castillo’s 4.60, is a legitimate warning. But Castillo has allowed left-handed hitters a .843 OPS and 14 home runs, and the confirmed Mets lineup includes four left-handed hitters plus switch-hitting Francisco Lindor. Scott has held lefties to a .688 OPS, so Chicago’s left-handed lineup does not create an equivalent vulnerability.

Chicago owns the stronger team résumé: 4.8 runs per game against New York’s 4.1, a 38-25 home record against the Mets’ 28-36 road mark, and a bullpen with a 1.35 ERA over its last seven games compared with New York’s 1.85. The Mets’ current bullpen has the better season line, however, at a 3.12 ERA and 1.03 WHIP versus Chicago’s 3.24 and 1.22. That balance keeps my confidence measured. Still, Randal Grichuk and Jake Rogers are sitting after both homered Friday, and Kodai Senga has not worked since August 19. My judgment is that Chicago’s broader résumé is carrying more weight than tonight’s specific pitching matchup deserves. I want the plus-money side with the better starter and the clearer handedness edge. Mets ML +102 is the ticket.
