Dodgers at Rockies

Coors Field gets the stage again after Los Angeles opened this series with an 11-5 statement. The Rockies now hand the ball to Ryan Feltner, and I’m backing the Dodgers to keep the pressure on and cover the run line. Eric Lauer brings the stronger recent command: a 3.86 ERA with three walks over his last 16.1 innings, compared with Feltner’s 4.96 ERA and seven walks across the same workload. Lauer’s 5.84 road ERA is the danger, but his command gives him a better chance of managing this environment. Feltner has allowed an .845 OPS to left-handed hitters and an .871 OPS to right-handed hitters, so there is no comfortable section of this Los Angeles order. His four-seamer carries a .349 xwOBA and his slider sits at .481. That lines up poorly with Ohtani, Freeman and Muncy, who own .419, .399 and .428 xwOBAs against four-seamers. Colorado has a legitimate counter at the top—McCarthy and Carrigg have .877 and .850 OPS marks against lefties—but the Dodgers’ lineup presents pressure from both sides and has already seen Feltner’s inability to consistently miss bats. The separation should come once the starters leave. The Dodgers’ current bullpen owns a 4.43 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, while Colorado’s group sits at 5.93 and 1.84. Los Angeles also carries the lighter recent relief workload and the stronger season-long defense, with 52 errors against Colorado’s 80. The wind coming in from right field offers both pitchers some protection, but it does not solve Feltner’s traffic or Colorado’s late-inning depth problem. My read is that Los Angeles creates repeated scoring opportunities, Lauer keeps the Rockies from controlling the game early, and the bullpen matchup gives the Dodgers the chance to turn a lead into a run-line result.
