Sunday afternoon at Comerica, the wind cutting right to left and Detroit trying to save face in a division series that has already slipped away. The Tigers have urgency; the White Sox have the better arm.
Sean Burke is the separator. His fastball and curve have been carrying legitimate ace form, he has traveled well, and Detroit’s lineup is missing too much impact while sitting several of the hitters who produced this weekend. Drew Anderson has pitched well, but his short leash means Chicago should get multiple looks at a bullpen that has already worked 12⅔ innings in the series.
The sweep angle and Chicago’s taxed late-inning arms keep this from being a heavy play. Still, I’m being offered plus money on the hotter lineup with the starter I trust to control more of the game. At +103, I’ll put the $100 on the White Sox to finish the sweep.
