The read
Saturday night at Progressive Field, warm air drifting toward left and a Cleveland club trying to stop a train. San Diego arrives with six straight wins and the sharper heartbeat.
The price decides it for me. The Padres are the better current team yet are catching plus money, with a lineup built to punish Joey Cantillo’s weakness against right-handed bats. Tatis is driving the ball, France and Campusano are scorching, and Bogaerts has rediscovered his damage stroke. Cantillo’s changeup and curve can miss bats, but his fastball is hittable and San Diego has enough lineup depth to make every mistake expensive.
Wandy Peralta opening before Randy Vásquez adds uncertainty, but Cleveland’s .662 OPS against lefties limits the early danger, and its lineup has repeatedly failed to finish scoring chances. If this is close after six, I want the Padres’ deeper bullpen and better defense. I’m taking the hotter, more complete club without laying a tax: Padres moneyline at +105.
