That's the recipe for a game that stays tight into the late innings, and tight late innings are exactly where this Dodgers lineup has been living: they're scoring three and a half a game during this skid, and both wins in the stretch — including last night against this same Kansas City club — came by a single run.
The Royals aren't here to be a prop in someone else's bounce-back narrative. Jac Caglianone is the hottest hitter on either side of this series, Bobby Witt Jr. is squaring balls up, and the pen just got reinforcements while catching a rare rested night. This is a workload bet, not a verdict on Blake Snell. He is making his first big-league start in three months, with roughly 75-80 pitches to work with, and his final rehab appearance required 73 pitches to record just 11 outs. To beat this number, he must complete the fifth inning. At plus money, I'm betting Dave Roberts protects the returning arm and goes to the bullpen after four-plus.
