Playing back in loanDepot park, +157 is generous value for De La Cruz to pick up a extra-base hit or multiple singles.

Luzardo is a different pitcher depending on which side of the plate you're standing on. Right-handed hitters have gotten to him for a .250 average and 10 home runs in 340 at-bats this year, while lefties are hitting .168 against him with a single homer. Hernandez bats right-handed, and he's the one lefty-thumping angle on this Marlins lineup card that lines up with Luzardo's actual soft spot.
He's also doing something with the bat right now that wasn't there a month ago. Two home runs in his last seven days, three in his last fifteen, and the exit-velo readings back it up — 91 mph average, three barrels out of sixteen balls in play recently. That's a hitter squaring the ball up, not just running hot. Whiff rate is elevated, so this isn't a contact-machine parlay play, but home run props aren't about contact rate, they're about answering the ball when he does connect. Harper's season-long split against right-handed pitching isn't close — .282 average, .989 OPS, 19 home runs in 234 at-bats. Gusto throws right-handed, and his ERA (4.50) and xERA (4.36) both say this is a get-to-able arm regardless of who's standing in the box, not just a name in the six-hole of the rotation.
The surface-level numbers from the last week look quiet — three hits in his last 21 at-bats — but one of those hits was a home run against a division rival's ace two nights ago, and the underlying contact data hasn't backed off: three barrels on seventeen balls in play in that stretch, average exit velocity over 91 mph. The strikeouts and empty swings are up a touch, which tells me he's pressing a little in a series his team just got swept up in through two games, but when he connects the ball is still going out at an elite rate.
Between the platoon matchup and a pitcher who hasn't been hard to find barrels against, I like the shot here even with the cold surface line the last week presents.
Gusto's biggest vulnerability by pitch is arguably his sinker (.389 BA against it) and his four-seamer (.330 xwOBA against), both fastballs Harper has feasted on all year (.451 xwOBA against four-seamers overall).

That's a real power stretch, not a one-game blip, even though the very last week cooled off (four hits in 25 at-bats with no homers). Power surges in a leadoff bat tend to run in patches like this, and I'd rather look at the fifteen-day window than chase the most recent quiet week in isolation.
He's a right-handed bat facing Luzardo, whose season-long numbers show righties getting to him for real power — 10 home runs allowed in 340 at-bats against that side, compared to a single homer surrendered to lefties.
