With the roof closed in Miami, I like Philadelphia’s chances behind Zack Wheeler against a team stuck in a long losing streak. The Phillies’ offense finally came alive Sunday, and this matchup gives it a good chance to stay hot.
Wheeler has been excellent lately, piling up strikeouts while allowing very little damage. He handles hitters from either side well, so Miami has few favorable options. Tyler Phillips faces a Philadelphia lineup loaded with left-handed hitters, who have hit him hard. His results also look better than the quality of contact he has allowed. If he leaves early, the Phillies have another edge against Miami’s worn-down relief pitchers, while Jhoan Duran and Philadelphia’s main late-game arms are rested.
The Phillies have been too inconsistent for me to pay the expensive price just to back them to win. I’d rather take the better value and ask them to win by at least two runs. Wheeler can control the game early, and Miami’s offense has struggled badly lately. I’m backing Philadelphia to cover the extra run.

Under the closed roof in Miami, the Phillies send a frontline ace to the mound against a club searching for any way to stop a 12-game slide. Philadelphia finally broke out offensively Sunday, and this matchup gives that lineup a chance to keep rolling.
Zack Wheeler has allowed three earned runs across his last 20 innings, with 33 strikeouts, and his effectiveness against hitters from both sides makes Miami’s lineup difficult to navigate toward a favorable matchup. Tyler Phillips has a tougher assignment: six left-handed bats are stacked into Philadelphia’s order, while lefties have produced a .810 OPS against him. His 4.76 xERA also suggests his 3.52 ERA has flattered the underlying contact. If Phillips exits early, Philadelphia has another advantage against a depleted Miami relief corps, while Jhoan Duran and the Phillies’ primary late-inning arms are rested.
Philadelphia’s inconsistency makes the -195 moneyline too expensive, so I’ll trade the extra run for a much better price. Wheeler gives the Phillies a strong chance to control the early innings, and Miami has averaged only 2.7 runs over its last 10 games. I’m laying the run and a half with Philadelphia at -113.
