My money is on the visiting Blue Jays today because they hold a distinct advantage on the mound. Dylan Cease is an absolute strikeout artist with a 2.79 ERA and 137 strikeouts in 90.1 innings this season. Over his last five starts, he has been in peak form, recording 45 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. While Webb is a quality starter, his 3.66 ERA masks a 4.00 xERA, indicating some regression is on the horizon. Furthermore, Toronto's hitters have 21 career at-bats of familiarity against him, whereas the Giants' hitters have never faced Cease. With a superior starting pitcher in prime form, an elite and healthy bullpen, and an offense with the tools to exploit Webb's regression, backing the Blue Jays on the moneyline at a reasonable price is the smartest play on the board.

Dylan Cease is the definition of 'effectively wild' right now. He’s piling up strikeouts (13.7 K/9), but his command is frequently MIA, evidenced by his 15 walks over his last five starts.
Rafael Devers is exactly the kind of disciplined veteran who will exploit that. Devers has been exceptionally patient lately, drawing five walks over his last ten games and showing a willingness to take his base rather than chase Cease's high-velocity heater or biting slider.
Batting clean-up for the Giants, Devers will likely see Cease with runners on base, which usually forces a pitcher into a more cautious approach. Given Cease’s recent trend of walking at least four batters in 60% of his recent outings, the odds of the Giants' most dangerous left-handed bat earning one of those free passes are significantly better than the -107 price implies.
