I’m backing Detroit at plus money because Flaherty’s 188 strikeouts in 161 innings play right into Cleveland’s swing-and-miss core, led by Angel Martínez’s 110 Ks. His .239 opponent average means the Guardians have to string knocks, and with Rocchio at .233 and Martínez at .224, extra traffic should be scarce. I respect Cecconi’s 1.19 WHIP, but Detroit’s steady bats give them the longer rope, with Dingler hitting .278 and Gleyber Torres stacking 85 walks that keep rallies moving. Sure, Flaherty’s 4.64 ERA can wobble, but Cleveland’s thin pop — Bo Naylor at .195 and Hedges at .161 — makes the big inning unlikely if you’ve got the guts to ride the dog with me.
