Dallas Stars at Nashville Predators

Dallas’s scoring and defensive baseline gives me enough reason to pay this price. Across 82 games last season, the Stars averaged 3.33 goals scored and 2.71 allowed, compared with Nashville’s 2.95 scored and 3.26 allowed. Dallas also conceded fewer shots per game. Those advantages matter more to my assessment than either club’s opening loss. The available Dallas lineup still has Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen. Robertson and Johnston each scored 45 goals last season, and Dallas’s power play converted at 28.6%. Matt Duchene’s absence reduces the supporting offense, and Friday’s result already reflects playing without him. Even with that loss, Dallas finished with a 25–24 shot advantage. One scoreless outing gives me little reason to abandon the longer scoring baseline. Casey DeSmith is confirmed to start after sitting out Friday. His .907 save percentage last season supports Dallas’s case against expected Nashville starter Juuse Saros, who finished at .894, although their defensive environments differ. Nashville’s home schedule is its strongest advantage with Dallas playing consecutive nights. I give that real weight, but Dallas’s available scorers, shot prevention and goalie matchup carry more weight in my decision.
