The read
I'm taking the points at near-even money. Start with the price: the Rams side is juiced to -120 at 6.5, which tells you the book is really trying to sell this closer to 7, while Giants +6.5 at -102 is the cheapest ticket on the board. Now the football. The Rams' Week 1 dud in Melbourne is a legitimate excuse (28 hours of acclimation, 56 offensive plays, and they get 11 days rest and a true home opener tonight), so I'm not fading them because of one score. I'm fading the number because of what's changed since: Myles Garrett is on IR, Puka Nacua is questionable and per Schefter 'trending the wrong way' after missing Friday and Saturday, Jordan Whittington is doubtful, Kamren Kinchens is out, and both starting inside linebackers (Landman, Speights) carry questionable tags.
Stafford threw 9 of his targets to Nacua in Week 1 and nobody else topped 26 yards; if Nacua sits or is limited, this is Adams plus tight ends against a Giants front (Burns, Carter, Thibodeaux, Golston, Reader) that hit Dak nine times. On the other side, the Rams gave up 174 rushing yards and 5.9 yards per play to San Francisco WITH Garrett, who Shula himself called disruptive in the run game. Now they face the most physical run team of Week 1 (Ricard as lead blocker, Skattebo, Dart's 54 rushing yards) with a banged-up second level. The Giants' identity is the whole point here: 36:40 time of possession, two 8-minute second-half drives, Dallas got two possessions after halftime. That style caps possessions and variance, which is exactly how an underdog stays inside a touchdown even when the 9-of-10 third-down clip regresses, and it will.
The Rams' pass rush also had zero sacks and two QB hits on 36 dropbacks against Purdy; Dart extends plays and Garrett was their answer to that. Real concerns on my side: Andrew Thomas and Mauigoa are questionable at both tackle spots with Donald, Turner and Fiske inside, the secondary is thin after Adebo's IR move with Banks and Newsome questionable, and the Giants left 114 penalty yards and four fumbles on the field that a McVay offense will punish. That's why this is a modest play and not a hammer. But 6.5 with an elite team's best receiver and best pass rusher likely missing, against a ball-control opponent, at -102, is the value. Giants ML at +250 is roughly fair with no edge; the spread is the cleaner ticket.

The research
The dated measurements the app shows under this card — observations with their sample and source, not predictions.
QUARTERBACK
Matthew Stafford is the projected starting quarterback for LAR
6.2 Y/AIn his first 2026 game, Matthew Stafford threw for 155 passing yards, completed 60% of his passes and averaged 6.2 yards per attempt. His 0-1 touchdown-to-interception line comes from a one-game sample, so the relationship between completion rate and per-throw production is still an early read.
Jaxson Dart is the projected starting quarterback for NYG
7.93 Y/AIn his first 2026 game, Jaxson Dart threw for 230 passing yards, completed 79.3% of his passes and averaged 7.93 yards per attempt. His 3-0 touchdown-to-interception line comes from a one-game sample, so the relationship between completion rate and per-throw production is still an early read.
TRENCHES
NYG: 69 rushing yards allowed per game to LAR's 174
105 YPGNYG's defense held its lone opponent to just 69 rushing yards, while LAR gave up 174 in its opener. That's a wide early gap, but it's built on one game each, so it reads as early signal rather than proven identity. If LAR's front keeps bleeding on the ground, expect run-heavy attacks to keep leaning on that. Treat these rushing numbers as unsettled until the sample grows.
NYG: 165 rushing yards per game to LAR's 122
43 YPGNYG is at 165 rushing yards per game over 1 game; LAR is at 122 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 129.1 over 17 games and LAR at 126.6 over 17 games.
PASS RUSH
LAR: 0 sacks taken per game to NYG's 2
2 SACKSNYG is at 2 sacks taken per game over 1 game; LAR is at 0 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 2.82 over 17 games and LAR at 1.77 over 17 games.
PACE & SCRIPT
NYG: 36:40 time of possession per game to LAR's 26:10
10:30 TOPNYG is at 36:40 time of possession per game over 1 game; LAR is at 26:10 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 30:58 over 17 games and LAR at 30:46 over 17 games.
NYG: 28 points per game to LAR's 7
21 PPGNYG's offense has bulldozed early while LA's has stalled, but that's two teams with exactly one game apiece on the board. Last season the script was flipped entirely — LAR averaged 30.5 a game to NYG's 22.4 — so neither side has proven this is who they really are yet. A one-game gap this far from last year's baseline usually snaps back toward the middle as more games get played. Treat any early line built on these scoring averages as reacting to one data point, not an established trend.
NYG @ LAR carries a 47.5 market total
47.5NYG @ LAR's 47.5 total sits 9 points above the 38.5 median across the 15 games with numbers posted, a modest lean toward scoring. It's not far enough from the middle to call this an outlier game, just one that skews slightly toward points. With a gap this small, the number is less likely to move sharply than the slate's extremes. For bettors, it reads closer to a coin-flip on total scoring than a strong lean in either direction.
NYG: 20 points allowed per game to LAR's 27
7 PPGNYG is at 20 points allowed per game over 1 game; LAR is at 27 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 25.8 over 17 games and LAR at 20.4 over 17 games.
NYG: 68 offensive plays per game to LAR's 57
11 PLAYSNYG is at 68 offensive plays per game over 1 game; LAR is at 57 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 63.8 over 17 games and LAR at 63.9 over 17 games.
TURNOVERS
NYG: 1 turnovers committed per game to LAR's 2
1 TONYG is at 1 turnovers committed per game over 1 game; LAR is at 2 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 1 over 17 games and LAR at 0.88 over 17 games.
NYG: 0 interceptions thrown per game to LAR's 1
1 INTNYG is at 0 interceptions thrown per game over 1 game; LAR is at 1 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 0.59 over 17 games and LAR at 0.47 over 17 games.
EXPLOSIVE PLAYS
NYG: 5.8 yards per play to LAR's 5.1
0.7 Y/PNYG has been more efficient per snap than LAR so far, but each number comes from a single game. NYG's mark is actually up from last season's 5.15, while LAR is running well below its 6.15 last season, even though LAR had the bigger explosive plays — two 20-plus-yard completions to Puka Nacua — against NYG's one 22-yard run. One game is barely a signal, and LAR's dip looks likely to correct given its top target already flashed. Weight this gap lightly and expect LAR's per-play number to climb as the sample grows.
RED ZONE
NYG: 100% red-zone scoring rate to LAR's 33.3%
66.7 PPNYG is at 100% red-zone scoring rate over 1 game; LAR is at 33.3% over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 47.5% over 17 games and LAR at 63.2% over 17 games.
LAR: 66.7% red-zone scoring allowed to NYG's 100%
33.3 PPNYG has allowed opponents to score on every single red-zone trip so far, while LAR has held foes to scoring two-thirds of the time. It's only one game each, so this reads as noise more than trend — a small sample can swing hard on a few plays inside the 20. If NYG's red-zone defense doesn't tighten, drives that stall outside the 20 may still end in points. Not enough data yet to call either number settled.
NYG: 4 red-zone trips per game to LAR's 3
1 TRIPSNYG is at 4 red-zone trips per game over 1 game; LAR is at 3 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 3.47 over 17 games and LAR at 4.47 over 17 games.
MISMATCH
NYG: 81.8% on third down to LAR's 22.2%
81.8 VS 22.2On third down, the Giants converted 81.8% of their chances while the Rams managed just 22.2% — a massive split, but each number comes from a single game. That small a sample means both figures are likely to swing hard the other way as more games are played. If the Giants can extend drives anywhere close to that early rate, it pressures the Rams' defense to get off the field. Bettors should treat one-game third-down marks like these as noise until a longer track record forms.
COVERAGE
NYG: 4.7 yards per play allowed to LAR's 5.9
1.2 Y/PNYG has held its opponent to 4.7 yards per play, while LAR allowed 5.9 in its one game. That's a single-game sample for each, so it's an early snapshot rather than a proven identity. A 1.2-yard gap in yards per play is meaningful, but it can move quickly once more games are in the books. Treat this as a starting point, not a settled read on either defense.
LAR: 58.3% third downs allowed to NYG's 72.7%
14.4 PPNYG is at 72.7% third downs allowed over 1 game; LAR is at 58.3% over 1 game. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Sep 20.
NYG: 175 passing yards allowed per game to LAR's 205
30 YPGNYG is at 175 passing yards allowed per game over 1 game; LAR is at 205 over 1 game. Those are what each defense has allowed in this season's games through Sep 20.
REPLACEMENT
Jaxson Dart (QB) is out for NYG
OUTDart went down with a knee injury during Monday's game against the Rams and was ruled out for the rest of it, making this a confirmed in-game update rather than a pregame estimate. As the Giants' quarterback, his exit meant New York had to finish that Monday night with someone else at the position. Because it just happened, there is no track record yet on severity beyond ending his night.
Ronnie Rivers (RB) is out for LAR
OUTRivers went down with a calf injury during Monday's game against the Giants and was ruled out for the rest of it, so this is an in-game update rather than pregame news. It happened in real time, so beyond him not finishing that game, there isn't more detail here yet.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. (RB) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLETracy's questionable tag is about an illness, not an injury, which flared up enough by Wednesday to land him on the report ahead of Monday's game at LA. Illness questionables tend to be short lived and often clear by kickoff. Check the final report closer to game time since this can go either way fast.
Ty Simpson (QB) is inactive for LAR
INACTIVESimpson is inactive by coach's decision, not injury, held out as the Rams' emergency third quarterback for Monday's game against the Giants. He only sees the field if both quarterbacks ahead of him get hurt, so this is normal roster management, not a story. Nothing here should factor into how the game plays out.
Greg Newsome II (CB) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLENewsome showed up on the injury report with a rib issue and was limited at Thursday's practice. Rib injuries are often about pain tolerance more than a structural problem, so a limited session midweek doesn't automatically rule him out for Sunday. Moving from limited to full participation on Friday is usually the clearer signal that a player is good to go. If he's out or limited, that's a cornerback snap the Giants have to cover elsewhere against the Rams.
Andrew Thomas (OT) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLEThomas was a limited participant in Friday's practice due to an ankle injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Reported Sep 19.
Francis Mauigoa (OT) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLEMauigoa was limited at Friday's practice with a shoulder injury, enough to land him on the questionable list for Sunday. Limited participation on the final practice report of the week usually leans toward a player being able to suit up in some form. If he's slowed or held out, that's a tackle spot for the Giants that the Rams' pass rush could target.
Omar Speights (LB) is questionable for LAR
QUESTIONABLESpeights (hip) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Reported Sep 18.
Nate Landman (LB) is questionable for LAR
QUESTIONABLELandman (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Saturday's practice, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Reported Sep 19.
Jordan Whittington (WR) is inactive for LAR
INACTIVEWhittington (quadriceps) is inactive for Monday's game against the Giants. Reported Sep 21.
Puka Nacua (WR) is inactive for LAR
INACTIVENacua (hip) is listed as inactive Monday against the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reported Sep 21.
Davis Allen (TE) is questionable for LAR
QUESTIONABLEAllen is getting examined for a possible concussion and is questionable to return to Thursday's matchup with the 49ers. Reported Sep 11.
Chauncey Golston (DE) is questionable for NYG
QUESTIONABLENYG lists Chauncey Golston as questionable on the injury report. Reported Sep 17.
Kam Curl (S) is questionable for LAR
QUESTIONABLECurl (ankle) is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the 49ers, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports. Reported Sep 11.
Deonte Banks (CB) is inactive for NYG
INACTIVEBanks (calf) is inactive for Monday's game against the Rams, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Reported Sep 21.
Tutu Atwell (WR) is inactive for LAR
INACTIVEAtwell (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's tilt against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, Nate Atkins of The Athletic reports. Reported Sep 10.
Najee Harris (RB) is inactive for NYG

NYG (1-0) at LAR (0-1)
-28 PT GAPThis is a smaller sample than most on the slate: the Giants are 1-0 and plus-8, the Rams are 0-1 and minus-20, just one game apiece. The Rams' loss came at home, notable since that's the site of this game too. New York hasn't played a true road game yet, so there's no away track record to lean on either way. With one game each, this split is worth noting but far too thin to treat as settled.
NYG: 7.4 yards per pass attempt to LAR's 6
1.4 Y/ANYG is at 7.4 yards per pass attempt over 1 game; LAR is at 6 over 1 game. Those are this season's games through Sep 20. Last season NYG was at 5.79 over 17 games and LAR at 7.24 over 17 games.
LAR has 3 more days of rest
8d vs 11dNYG is on a normal week at 8 days of rest, while LAR is coming off its bye at 11 days — a 3-day spacing edge for the Rams. Extra time off usually means a healthier roster and more prep specifically for this opponent, though bye teams sometimes look rusty instead of sharp. Rest edges like this tend to show up early, so it's worth watching how crisp each side looks in the first quarter rather than assuming it holds all game.

4- GARY'S PICKCAM SKATTEBORUSHING YARDS OVER 51.5
The number is 51.5 rushing yards, laying -113 on the over. Skattebo carried 18 times for 81 and a score in the opener, and that 18-carry share is the whole point. He is the early-down hammer here, with Singletary handling the passing-down work on six carries and four targets. Skattebo played 61 percent of the snaps and did not catch a pass. So this line asks him for 51.5 on roughly 16 to 18 carries, which is under three yards a pop.
The matchup is the reason. San Francisco ran for 174 on this Rams defense in the opener and piled up 121 of it after contact, and New York arrives with the same archetype: a run-first plan under Harbaugh with a quarterback who threatens the edge. Los Angeles is thinner in the box tonight than it was that day. Kinchens is out, Landman has been limited with a shoulder and Speights with a hip, and the safety depth behind them got patched together this week.
The honest argument against: 51.5 sits almost exactly on his 2025 per-game mean of 51.3 across eight games, and he cleared it in only five of those eight. That is not a soft number. The bigger risk is script. New York is a 6.5-point road dog, and a two-score deficit turns a 17-carry night into an 11-carry night in a hurry. Aaron Donald back on the interior matters here too. He is the one man on that field who can erase a gap before Skattebo reaches it. I still want the over, because the volume has to genuinely collapse for this to lose, and the Giants held the ball 36:40 in Week 1 doing exactly this.
- THE LONG SHOTCAM SKATTEBOANYTIME TD OVER 0.5
Plus 120 on anytime touchdown, a one-way price. Skattebo is the short-yardage finisher in an offense that ran 12 red-zone snaps against Dallas and succeeded on two-thirds of them, and he cashed one of those drives himself. Lead back, 18 carries, goal-line role, at plus money. That is the shape I want.
The matchup lines up. The Rams surrendered 174 rushing yards and 121 after contact in the opener, and over 10 red-zone snaps that same night they allowed a 50 percent success rate. Ten snaps is an anecdote, not a tendency, but it points the same direction as everything else. With Kinchens ruled out and both starting linebackers carrying limitations into tonight, the bodies responsible for stopping a two-yard run are compromised.
What argues against it: this is a crowded red zone even when the Giants get there. Dart is a real goal-line run threat on his own, 11 carries in the opener, and Likely took two of the three touchdowns last week. As a road dog, New York may simply get fewer trips inside the 20 than it did at home against Dallas. And Donald's return is aimed squarely at the play this bet needs. I am also aware this rides the same night as my yardage card on him, so treat them as one idea sized twice, not two ideas. At plus 120 I will pay it. At minus 120 I would not.
- GARY'S PICKJAXSON DARTRUSHING YARDS OVER 33.5
33.5 rushing yards at -113. Dart took every offensive snap in Week 1 and ran 11 times for 54. Across 10 starts in 2025 he averaged 6.7 carries for 37.8 yards. The number is set right on his own mean, so the edge has to come from the matchup, and it does.
Los Angeles generated zero sacks and two quarterback hits on 36 dropbacks in the opener. A 5.6 percent hit rate is effectively no pressure at all, and since then they have lost Myles Garrett, who played 62 percent of their defensive snaps in that game. A front that cannot get home is a front that concedes scramble yards, and Roman's concepts are built to put this quarterback on the perimeter with a run-pass choice. San Francisco beat this defense with that same shape 11 days ago.
The case against is real. Los Angeles has had those 11 days to build a plan specifically for containing him, and their coaches have said so. Donald's return is the sharpest counter of all, because interior push collapses a pocket forward and closes the middle escape lane, which is where most of Dart's yardage lives. He also cleared 33.5 in only five of 10 games last year, a coin flip, and kneel-downs and stuffed keepers count against the total. This is a lean rather than a hammer, but the pressure math is too favorable to leave alone. It is also the one card here that survives a bad script, since a deficit puts him in more dropbacks, not fewer.
- THE LONG SHOTISAIAH LIKELYANYTIME TD OVER 0.5
Plus 295 on anytime touchdown. Likely caught eight balls on eight targets for 78 yards and two scores in his Giants debut, and the red-zone usage was the headline. When the field got short, he was the answer, in his first game back alongside Harbaugh.
The matchup question is who covers him. Los Angeles is without Kinchens, who played 80 percent of their defensive snaps in the opener, and they spent this week elevating a practice-squad safety to patch the depth behind him. Landman and Speights, the linebackers who logged 98 and 46 percent of the snaps, both carry limitations into tonight. That is precisely the group tasked with a tight end working the seam and the back line of the end zone.
Now the part that gives me pause, and it is substantial. He played 49 percent of the snaps. That is a rotational number, not a featured one, and Theo Johnson is behind him. Eight catches on eight targets is not a repeatable conversion rate by anyone. And the larger sample cuts hard the other way: across 10 games in 2025 he averaged 2.6 catches and 29.5 yards as a second tight end. One night in a new role is thin evidence for a role. I am taking it anyway because plus 295 is a 25 percent implied price, and that price is treating last week as pure noise. I do not think it entirely was.
