The public is going to load up on Detroit, but this is exactly the spot where value lives on the other sideline. You’ve got two teams separated by just one win in the standings (Lions 7-5, Cowboys 6-5-1), and yet you’re being handed a plus-money moneyline on the healthier roster. Detroit has been good but not unbeatable at home (4-2 at home), while Dallas has struggled but not collapsed on the road (2-4 away). Layer on the injury sheet and this starts tilting toward Dallas more than the market is admitting (Detroit listing nine questionables vs. Dallas listing just two). Everyone’s going to remember how explosive these offenses were last year. Detroit finished top-five in scoring under Jared Goff (about 27.1 points per game in 2023), and Dallas actually led the league (about 29.9 points per game in 2023). But right now the trend lines are opposite of what this price suggests. Detroit is just 1-4 in its last five (1-4 last 5), with two ugly blowout losses where they surrendered 49 and 31 points (21-49 vs. Miami, 7-31 vs. Carolina). Even that lone win was a shootout where they allowed 31 at home (37-31). Dallas hasn’t been pretty either at 2-3 over its last five (2-3 last 5), but their losses show more competitive scores in two of three (10-19 vs. Houston, 13-21 vs. an opponent, 13-44 vs. Philadelphia), and that 44-point dud is already fully baked into this price. Here’s how I see this playing out. Dak Prescott still brings a proven high-end passing profile to the table (led the league with 36 passing TDs in 2023), and he’s working with a relatively intact core around him in the passing game (no key Dallas pass-catcher on this injury list). On the other side, Detroit’s skill and protection groups are walking a tightrope: Kalif Raymond is already ruled out at receiver (1 wideout confirmed out), and multiple starting linemen are banged up with game-day status uncertain (three key OL listed: center and both tackles). When you have that many bodies in the training room on a short week (nine Lions questionable), timing and pass protection tend to suffer, and that’s exactly where Prescott and Dallas can steal this. This screams value to me because the records say these teams are nearly even (7-5 vs. 6-5-1), both are under .500 in their last five (1-4 vs. 2-3), yet the market is pricing Detroit as a clear favorite while handing us a +140 moneyline on the healthier side (Dallas +140). In a game that projects as high scoring given recent totals in Detroit games (70, 38, and 68 combined points in their last three), variance works in favor of the plus-money underdog. I see Prescott making enough plays, Dallas surviving with one tackle out (1 starting OL out), and Detroit’s banged-up offense struggling to separate the way a -3 favorite is supposed to. That’s why I’m riding with Dallas Cowboys ML +140 in this spot. Only way this misses is if Detroit’s questionable stars on offense and the line all suit up close to 100% and the Lions suddenly look like last year’s 27-points-a-game version for four full quarters.
