The read
Canvas Stadium gets an unbeaten matchup, with No. 11 BYU making its first road trip and Colorado State testing its promising start under Jim Mora.
I’m laying the points because BYU’s running game presents the clearest sustained advantage. The Cougars have had just 9.5% of their carries stopped at or behind the line and succeeded on 66.3% of standard downs. LJ Martin anchors that approach, while Bear Bachmeier adds a rushing threat alongside his six touchdown passes and zero interceptions. Against a CSU defense whose own coaches have identified missed tackles and explosive-play mistakes, I expect BYU to keep possessions moving and give Kyler Kasper and Legend Glasker opportunities to punish those errors.
Colorado State’s offensive fireworks deserve respect. Hauss Hejny has nine touchdown passes, and Mel Brown can turn an opening into a major gain. But the Rams’ 23.4% offensive stuff rate raises a different question: what happens when those breakaways don’t arrive? BYU has allowed 2.375 line yards and stuffed 21.1% of opposing carries. My read is that its front can make CSU depend more heavily on Hejny producing through the air while keeping his running threat contained.
The quality of opposition matters here. CSU’s schedule ranks 133rd, compared with BYU’s 81st, and both SP+ and FPI place BYU 18th while ranking the Rams 94th and 90th, respectively. Those rankings support the matchup read; they don’t decide the cover.
The biggest threat to this ticket is CSU combining explosive scores with takeaways. It has forced eight turnovers through two games, and BYU cannot afford to donate possessions while laying this number. Still, I favor BYU’s ability to sustain offense, finish opportunities and force CSU into less comfortable situations. That combination gives the Cougars a credible path to separation beyond the posted spread.
Injuries noted
BYU Cougars: Raider Damuni (out) — Starting safety has a lower-leg injury and was reported out for at least a month.; Sione Moa (out) — Backup running back has an MCL/PCL injury, was removed from the Colorado State depth chart and was reported out for this game, although a later-season return remained expected.; Siale Esera (questionable) — Starting rover linebacker sustained an undisclosed, non-season-ending injury against Arizona. Kalani Sitake called him questionable but said the injury would more than likely keep him out against Colorado State; Esera was removed from this week's depth chart.
Colorado State Rams: Tommy Maher (questionable) — The wide receiver missed the September 12 Southern Utah game for an undisclosed reason; his availability against BYU remained uncertain as of September 13.

Props on this game
1- GARY'S PICKLEGEND GLASKERRECEIVING YARDS OVER 43.5
Glasker has produced 139 receiving yards on six catches through two games, showing the kind of explosiveness that can clear this number without requiring heavy volume. That matters against a Colorado State defense that has acknowledged problems with missed tackles and explosive plays. BYU’s rushing threat should draw attention toward the box and create favorable opportunities for Glasker off play action. A one-sided game could limit late passing volume, but his big-play ability makes over 43.5 the prop I want at this price.
