The third round of the Big Ten Tournament takes center stage tonight at the United Center as the seventh-seeded Purdue Boilermakers open their postseason against a surging Northwestern Wildcats squad. While Northwestern is dealing with a significant rest disadvantage by playing their third game in three days, the de facto home-court environment in Chicago provides the emotional fuel needed to push through fatigue. Nick Martinelli is carrying the offense at a historic rate, pouring in 52 points through his first two tournament games. Purdue will undoubtedly win the rebounding battle with their size advantage, but their recent defensive lapses—highlighted by surrendering 97 points to Wisconsin—make laying nearly a dozen points too steep of a price. Northwestern has the discipline and half-court execution to keep this within the number.
