While Penny Hardaway’s Tigers arrived in the preseason as the team to beat, the statistical reality heading into late February shows a massive gap in execution and stability. The Bulls are currently playing their best basketball of the season, while Memphis is navigating a locker room in flux following the dismissal of Hasan Abdul Hakim and a demoralizing 24-point road loss earlier this week.

The defining characteristic of this matchup is the clash between South Florida’s elite ball security and Memphis’s defensive pressure. The Tigers rely heavily on creating chaos, ranking 16th nationally with 9.2 steals per game. However, the Bulls own a stellar 12.9% TOV rate, which is one of the best marks in the country. If South Florida protects the rock, Memphis is forced to defend in the half-court, where their 100.3 AdjDE is respectable but likely won't be enough to contain a USF offense operating at a blistering 117.5 AdjOE. While Memphis gets Zach Davis back from suspension, the loss of Hakim and the overall lack of cohesion on the road make it difficult to envision them staying within three possessions of a USF team that has won four straight.
