Gary's Take This spread is a classic efficiency trap where the market is begging you to take the 12-4 Colorado Buffaloes and the points against an 8-8 Cincinnati team. On paper, the Buffaloes look like the superior squad, but the underlying metrics tell a different story. Cincinnati's defense is an absolute wood-chipper, ranking 8th nationally in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. They specifically thrive on forcing non-steal turnovers and making young offenses play deep into the shot clock. Colorado returns very little scoring from last year and relies heavily on freshman Isaiah Johnson. While Johnson has been a revelation, asking a freshman-led backcourt to navigate the physicality of Wes Miller’s man-to-man defense in a hostile road environment is a tall order.
