Gary's Take The massive disparity in strength of schedule is the most telling metric in this SEC opener. While Missouri carries an impressive 10-3 record and a perfect home mark, they have feasted on one of the softest non-conference slates in the country, ranked 297th. Florida, conversely, is battle-tested with a top-25 SOS, having already faced the likes of Arizona, Duke, and UConn. When Missouri finally stepped up in class against Illinois in late December, they were dismantled by 43 points, exposing a fatal flaw: they cannot protect the defensive glass.

This game will be won in the paint, where Florida's Rueben Chinyelu and Alex Condon represent the most physically imposing frontcourt in the conference. The Gators rank second nationally in offensive rebounding percentage, and they are facing a Tigers defense that ranks near the bottom of the country in preventing second-chance opportunities. Missouri’s Mark Mitchell and Jacob Crews are legitimate offensive threats, but they rely on a high-tempo, high-efficiency shooting game that wilts when they are out-muscled on the interior.
