I expect Arizona to get deeper into the game with its starter and reach a better-rested group of late relievers. Houston starts six right-handed hitters, and Pfaadt has allowed righties a .534 OPS with one homer in 182 at-bats. That matchup supports his chances of supplying useful length. Pecko has yet to pitch beyond five innings in his three starts. At equal prices, that difference in how these teams can cover tonight’s innings carries my decision.
Brandyn Garcia, Jonathan Loáisiga and Juan Morillo last pitched September 2. Houston used Bennett Sousa and Bryan Abreu on consecutive days, with Sousa throwing 39 pitches across those appearances. Arizona has a credible opportunity to enter the middle innings with more flexibility. Houston still has answers: AJ Blubaugh rested yesterday, and Josh Hader threw 16 pitches. My case depends on Houston facing harder relief choices if Pecko exits early.

Pfaadt also brings risk: his recent home-run trouble against lefties meets Yordan Alvarez and his 1.111 OPS against right-handed pitching. That is Houston’s strongest route to overturning this bet.
I judge Arizona’s starter matchup and rested relief options enough to justify this price, with modest confidence. The unresolved fact that could change my decision is Abreu’s availability for a normal workload. Consecutive appearances do not establish that he is unavailable. Confirmation that Houston can use him normally alongside Blubaugh and Hader would strengthen its answer to another short start and could erase the edge I’m assigning Arizona.
