The read
Truist Park gets a genuine ace matchup, with Atlanta trying to finish a sweep and Los Angeles trying to answer two consecutive one-run losses. This is not a fade of Chris Sale; it is a narrow starting-pitcher and offensive edge at an underdog price.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets my slight mound edge. He brings a 1.99 road ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 1.50 ERA across his last three starts. Sale owns the better full-season ERA at 2.20 and has a 1.65 home ERA, but his ERA over his last three starts is 3.00. The difference is small, but Yamamoto’s recent work and road split are the strongest individual indicators in this matchup.
Los Angeles also owns the broader offensive edge: a .761 season OPS and 5.0 runs per game compared with Atlanta’s .725 and 4.7. The Dodgers have a .749 OPS against left-handed pitching, while the Braves have a .729 OPS against right-handers. I am not treating Atlanta’s 4-1 season-series lead as a forecast; the first two games at Truist Park involved different starters and were each decided by one run.
Atlanta’s bullpen is the biggest danger to the ticket. Its current arms carry a 2.62 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, better than Los Angeles’ 3.07 and 1.18, while Tanner Scott and Evan Phillips have worked both of the last two days. Atlanta’s bridge has usage concerns of its own, with Dylan Lee, Dylan Dodd and Victor Mederos also working both days.
This reads as a moneyline ticket rather than a run-line play. I’m backing Yamamoto to limit the Dodgers’ bullpen exposure and Los Angeles’ stronger offensive profile to produce enough at plus money.

Sale must record an out in the seventh to beat this line. He has cleared 18.5 outs only once in his last eight starts and has stopped at exactly six innings in five straight, including outings requiring 94, 108 and 103 pitches.
The Dodgers still have patient hitters throughout the top half of the order, so Sale can pitch well without working into the seventh. Atlanta has also been managing its 37-year-old ace carefully for the stretch run. Another six-inning quality start cashes this under.
Ha-Seong KimUNDER 0.5 H+R+RBI H+R+RBI-107
LActual 1
Last night's walk-off was a great moment, but I am not treating one swing as a turnaround. It was Kim's first hit since June 3 and ended an 0-for-27 drought. He enters tonight hitting .078 with a .174 on-base percentage and bats ninth against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Yamamoto owns a 0.90 WHIP, has held right-handed hitters to a .195 average and carries a 1.99 road ERA. Kim likely gets only three trips to the plate unless Atlanta turns the lineup over repeatedly, making plus production in any of the three categories difficult.
