The read
A gorgeous summer afternoon at T-Mobile Park sets the stage for a high-stakes Sunday series finale between the Blue Jays and the Mariners. When you look at tonight's pitching matchup, the starting pitching mismatch is where this game is won or lost. The market is overpaying for a fragile number with Emerson Hancock. While Hancock’s 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP look solid on the surface, his 4.48 expected ERA (xERA) reveals heavy overperformance, backed by a high 9.7% barrel rate and a 44.9% hard-hit rate. Trey Yesavage, on the other hand, is the real deal. Carrying a 3.34 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, Yesavage’s elite 3.19 xERA is fully backed by a dominant splitter that features a 42.5% whiff rate and a .236 xwOBA. Yesavage has been spectacular on the road this season with a 2.22 road ERA, and today's pitcher-friendly environment will only elevate his effectiveness.
The strongest argument against backing Toronto is their fatigued bullpen after yesterday's doubleheader split, which concluded in a taxing 11-0 blowout loss where position players were forced to pitch. Seattle's bullpen enters the finale far more rested, with closer Andres Munoz available. However, Yesavage’s ability to suppress left-handed hitting with a stellar .197 opponent batting average allowed completely neutralizes Seattle’s left-heavy lineup, which features six left-handed or switch hitters. Furthermore, Seattle’s offense has slumped significantly following the fresh injuries to stars Julio Rodriguez and Brendan Donovan over the last 48 hours. Without their offensive anchors, the Mariners' lineup has registered a heavy 36.3% whiff rate in their last three games, pressing significantly without their core producers.
Meanwhile, Toronto’s right-handed bats are perfectly positioned to exploit Hancock's primary weaknesses. Hancock's primary four-seam fastball (.381 xwOBA) and sinker (.407 xwOBA) are his main liabilities, which plays directly into the strengths of Kazuma Okamoto (.363 xwOBA against four-seamers) and Ernie Clement (.355 batting average against four-seamers). Defensively, Toronto holds a massive range advantage as the league's #6 team in Outs Above Average (OAA), compared to Seattle’s #29 ranking, which is critical in a ballpark where both fly-ball-leaning starters will test the outfields. At even money (+100), the value lies entirely with Yesavage and the Blue Jays to bounce back and secure the series.

2Vladimir Guerrero Jr.UNDER 1.5 Total Bases Total Bases-165
LActual 2
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is in the midst of a significant power and contact drought, hitting just .150 over his last 40 at-bats.
He has cleared the 1.5 total bases mark only once in his last 10 games and has failed to record a home run in that same span. Tonight's environment at T-Mobile Park is exceptionally hostile to right-handed power hitters; the stadium already suppresses fly balls, and the 10 mph wind blowing directly in from left field will further neutralize any balls he pulls.
Against Emerson Hancock, who maintains a crisp 1.05 WHIP, Guerrero will likely struggle to find the multi-hit performance or extra-base hit required to clear this line. His season-long power numbers (4 HR in over 300 ABs) suggest a fundamental shift in profile that favors the under in a pitcher-friendly park.
Randy ArozarenaOVER 0.5 Hits Hits-180
Not yet graded
While Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage has been dominant against right-handed hitters this season (.170 AVG), Randy Arozarena represents a specific matchup outlier, having gone 3-for-5 in their previous meetings. Arozarena has been one of the most consistent hitters for a Seattle lineup currently missing key pieces like Julio Rodriguez and Brendan Donovan, recording a hit in 70% of his last 10 games. Batting in the second spot ensures Arozarena will see 4-5 plate appearances, providing a high volume floor to secure at least one knock. His recent form includes a .286 average over the last 10 games, and his ability to hit Yesavage's primary offerings in the past gives him a distinct advantage over other right-handed bats in this lineup.
