To make matters worse for Washington, their bullpen was gutted today with two brand-new, 15-day IL placements for Mitchell Parker and Richard Lovelady. This severely compromises Washington’s ability to protect any late-inning leads or bail out Mikolas early. With Suarez's elite stuff rendering the Nationals' lack of batter-pitcher familiarity a major disadvantage, the Red Sox are well-positioned to leverage their offense and superior starting pitching to secure a victory.
