Chris Sale has been spectacular, posting a 2.14 ERA and 99 strikeouts over 84.0 innings while allowing a tiny 5.6% barrel rate. He matches up beautifully against a Giants lineup where Matt Chapman and Willy Adames have struggled historically against him, combining for just 4 hits in 29 career at-bats.
Conversely, the market is overpaying for Robbie Ray's shiny 1.86 ERA over his last five starts, which is built on highly fragile ground. Ray's season-long 3.70 ERA is belied by a 4.74 xERA, and his primary vulnerability to right-handed power remains a massive liability. Ray has surrendered 13 home runs and a .736 OPS to righties. The Braves can exploit this split with potent righty bats like Austin Riley, alongside Ozzie Albies, who holds a .964 OPS against Ray in 10 career at-bats.
