Marlins at Cardinals

Under the lights at Busch Stadium, a crucial National League matchup takes center stage as the St. Louis Cardinals look to break their three-game home losing streak against the red-hot Miami Marlins. While Miami has been the story of June with an impressive 17-5 record this month, tonight's starting pitching disparity represents an overwhelming advantage for St. Louis. The main argument against the Cardinals is Miami's incredible June surge, their 3-1 season series lead, and the fact that Pallante's home ERA of 4.17 is higher than his away ERA of 2.73. However, those broad-stroke trends do not account for the immediate relief tax Miami faces tonight. Gusto has failed to reach the 5.0-inning mark in any of his starts this season. This will inevitably force Miami's bullpen to cover at least 12 to 15 outs, putting immense pressure on a relief unit that has been heavily used during their recent winning stretch. Meanwhile, St. Louis possesses a distinct bullpen freshness edge at the backend, with closer Riley O'Brien (19 saves) fully rested and having thrown zero pitches since June 22.
